OTTAWA, ON., December 18, 2007 - The NorthStar division (Harris NorthStar) of Harris Computer Systems (Harris) announced today that it was selected by the Vallecitos Water District of San Marcos, CA to implement two of its key software solutions: NorthStar v6.x for Utility Billing/CIS (customer information system) and GEMS for Finance, Human Resources, and Payroll. Harris provides utilities, schools and municipal governments with market-leading software solutions.

Vallecitos Water District (VWD) provides Water, Wastewater, and Reclamation services to 80,650 people in San Marcos as well as the community of Lake San Marcos, parts of Carlsbad, Escondido, and Vista California. Formed 1955 as a water-only district by a group of local citizens to answer the shrinking water table in the San Marcos and Twin Oaks valleys, the San Marcos County Water District grew as an independent, special district.

VWD chose NorthStar 6.x for its robust and comprehensive CIS functionality in addition to its ability to interface with GEMs Financials, providing a seamless, end-to-end billing and financials package.
