BearingPoint Completes
Oracle|SPL ERM Solution for Orange County Utilities Department, Orange
County, Florida
Implementation replaces
disparate legacy systems with consolidated utility billing solution.
MCLEAN, VA., January 30, 2007 - BearingPoint,
Inc. (NYSE: BE), one of the world’s largest management and
technology consulting firms, today announced the completion of a
state-of-the-art customer information system based on the Oracle|SPL
enterprise revenue management solution for the Orange County Utilities
Department, Orange County, Florida. The new system has resulted
in enhanced customer service, more efficient revenue management
and greater accounting efficiency.
By replacing six outdated, inefficient, and unsupported billing
systems, BearingPoint was able to provide the utility one comprehensive
database, eliminating most duplication issues and enabling Orange
County to save its customers money and offer new tools for more
efficient revenue management.
The new system provides real time access to the utility’s
financial and customer data, generating a newly formatted utility
bill for over 124,000 accounts, 175,000 customers and approximately
1.5 million yearly bills. The system is also providing greater
efficiency for account maintenance, accounting service, water,
waste water, reclaim water and solid waste data.
“Bringing the Oracle|SPL ERM online was a collaborative
effort between BearingPoint and the entire Orange County Utilities
staff,” said Rosemary Whitacre, utility customer service
manager and project sponsor at Orange County Utilities Department.
“BearingPoint’s get-it-done approach and competent
team are credited as the key factor in our successful implementation.”
Our team of experienced utilities professionals, coupled with
our successful track record of implementing solutions for utilities
of similar size and scope, lead Orange County Utilities to select
BearingPoint to manage this ambitious project,” said Phil
Daniele, a managing director in BearingPoint’s utilities
practice. “Our team has partnered with several other utilities
in and outside of the State of Florida to deliver successful
Oracle|SPL CIS projects. We are pleased to have delivered to
Orange County Utilities a solution that eliminates the costly
maintenance of legacy systems, that consolidates communication
with their customers, and streamlines cash collections by moving
from weekly billing to daily billing procedures."
As a result of this successful implementation, Orange County
also retained BearingPoint to build out the next phase of the
project, which will include automatic credit card billing, workflow
development and additional business process re-engineering,
as well as development of additional system interfaces.
