FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Indus Customer Suite Enables
Centralized, Integrated, Seamless Customer Service
ATLANTA, GA, September 26, 2006 – Indus
International Inc. (NASDAQ: IINT), a leading Service Delivery Management
(SDM) solution provider, today announced a significant new contract
with Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD), Perris, CA, to replace
the district’s customer information system (CIS) with a comprehensive
customer management software solution from Indus. License revenue
from the contract was recognized in Indus’ first fiscal quarter
of 2007.
EMWD delivers freshwater, wastewater service and recycled water
to a population of approximately 630,000 within its 555-square-mile
service area in the heart of Southern California. This population
has grown dramatically in recent years, and the trend is expected
to continue into the foreseeable future. According to district figures,
the number of residential water meters in Eastern's San Jacinto
Valley service area, for instance, increased by more than 50 percent
from 2001 to 2005. And, a recent report by the California State
Department of Finance estimates that the county’s population
will double from 1.7 million to 3.3 million by 2045. In addition,
the Riverside County service area is expected to grow from 1.5 million
to 4.3 million residents in that timeframe, the largest population
gain of any county in the state.
In order to support this growing customer base -- and continue
to meet its strategic goal of providing customer service in a timely,
courteous and effective manner -- EMWD decided to upgrade its outdated
CIS with a world-class, scalable customer management solution. After
an extensive review process, EMWD chose Indus Customer Suite.
“Our whole strategic effort right now is accommodating growth,
while meeting or exceeding customer expectations,” said Anthony
Pack, general manager of Eastern Municipal Water District. “To
meet this objective we must utilize information technology that
provides up-to-date, accurate and reliable information to help us
address customer queries and provide for centralized, integrated,
seamless customer service. The Indus Customer Suite gave us the
solution we needed today, and the ability to grow with us as our
needs expand in the future.”
Another objective EMWD established was the ability to offer additional
economic incentives, such as tiered rates, which reward customers
who conserve water while forcing heavy water consumers to pay higher
rates. The ability of Indus Customer Suite to support tiered billing
was a major reason for selecting the Indus solution. Complex billing
is only part of the comprehensive feature set included in Indus
Customer Suite, which also includes unparalleled flexibility and
workflow capabilities. A major component of Indus’ Service
Delivery Management strategy, Customer Suite can manage all of a
utility’s customer-facing processes. The solution includes
customer care features, which help utilities capture, track and
analyze customer information and behavior for continual service
optimization. And, it provides revenue cycle management features
for sophisticated financial operation functions, including complex
billing, variable pricing options and advanced rate management.
“Indus is proving to be the solution of choice for water
utilities, as this recent win at EMWD proves,” said Indus
President and CEO Greg Dukat. “The Indus Customer Suite is
the most complete utility-specific customer management solution
available today, and the only one offering the robust, flexible
and scalable functionality that meets the needs of progressing,
growing utilities.”
