FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Talgentra Cemented as Australian
Market Leader as Two More Utilities Migrate to Gentrack Velocity
MELBOURNE; December 20, 2005 -
Canberra's ActewAGL and Melbourne's City West Water have both recently
started migrating to Gentrack Velocity, the latest release of the
Gentrack billing and customer management solution. Both Australian
utilities are undergoing major upgrades of the technology platforms
that underpin their mission critical billing and CIS systems and
the selection of Gentrack Velocity will enable them to reduce costs
and deliver higher levels of customer service.
ActewAGL is the largest provider of energy and water services in
Australia's Capital Territory with over 250,000 customers. As the
incumbent supplier when Full Retail Contestability hit ACT, ActewAGL's
systems have evolved to the point where several systems are used
to manage residential billing, C&I (time of use billing), customer
acquisition, market interface and credit management functions. The
decision to consolidate all of these activities into one integrated
Gentrack Velocity system to manage the entire customer lifecycle,
will offer major IT cost savings and productivity gains for ActewAGL.
Carsten Larsen, CIO and General Manager Commercial Development
for ActewAGL commented, “We were impressed with Gentrack Velocity’s
breadth of functionality, and in particular the highly configurable
workflow, questionflow and taskflow engines. We can now easily automate
many of our processes, from data validation and customer enrolments
to B2B data interchange. In addition, Gentrack Velocity's multi-billing
capabilities will allow us to handle both electricity and water
customers, as well as positioning us to handle gas customers - all
from one billing system. This is expected to save maintenance fees,
license fees and training costs."
Gentrack Velocity also replaces an older version of Gentrack CIS
which has been in use by City West Water for almost 10 years. City
West Water is one of the most www.talgentra.com
progressive water utilities in the state of Victoria and serves
290,000 business and residential customers.
"Our needs are changing and although our existing Gentrack
solution is reliable and meeting our current requirements, we took
the opportunity to look around the CIS software market for a possible
replacement" explained Peter Kinsman, CIO of City West Water.
"We decided an upgrade to Gentrack Velocity was in our best
interests as it is one of the most feature rich solutions for Australian
water utilities and will support our move to Oracle. It has the
flexibility we need to accurately assign tariffs and rates, and
the configurability to ensure we can rapidly comply with any forthcoming
regulatory change."
The deployment of the new systems to both ActewAGL and City West
Water are well under way with completion expected towards the middle
of 2006. Talgentra General Manager, James Docking said “Gentrack
Velocity’s new upgrade tools, regular release cycle and platform
independence enables utilities to achieve a rapid return on their
investment. The range of new features now available in Gentrack
Velocity also provides flexibility and agility in competitive Australian
energy and water markets. The City West and ActewAGL upgrades ensure
Gentrack remains the most widely
used billing and customer management system across Australia, New
Zealand and the Pacific with 30 implementations in the region, including
three recent major upgrades to the latest release of Gentrack Velocity.
