Acquires Municipal Software Incorporated
December 8, 2005 - Harris Computer Systems ("Harris”)
- a leading provider of customer information and financial management
solutions for utilities and local government - announces that it has
acquired Municipal Software Inc. (“MSI”), an important
provider of local government solutions currently serving Illinois,
Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
“This agreement is a continuation of the acquisition strategy
we formulated in 2000. MSI is solid fit with our catalog of solutions
and with our corporate mission,” said Jeff Bender, CEO of
Harris. “We look forward to working in the tri-states and
to further serve the needs of the MSI user base. Ensuring the growth
and success of MSI’s customers was an important factor of
this agreement.”
Jerry Canada, Harris’ Vice President, added, “The MSI
customers and the MSI employees are very welcome additions to Harris.
With the MSI employees and management joining us, I anticipate their
contributions will position Harris for further growth well into
the future. Also I am excited about expanding our presence in the
Midwest and working with local governments there increasing their
productivity with our solutions.”
Barry Anderson, President of MSI, also was excited about the opportunity
to have himself, his staff, and his customer base join Harris: “I
was not looking to sell MSI, but after conversations with Harris,
I realized I was dealing with an organization committed to the same
values I held around providing solid customer service and building
a profitable, healthy enterprise there for its customer base. I
am certain that MSI customers will be presented with many great
opportunities while be assured that their software investment is
protected.”
Effective immediately, the MSI product line will be added to Harris’
Spectrum division, based in Niagara Falls, NY. The MSI office in
Libertyville, IL remains open and will continue to directly service
the MSI client base.
