The City of Medicine Hat
Chooses Cogsdale CSM
Charlottetown, PEI – October, 2005 –
Cogsdale Corporation is pleased to announce that it has been chosen
by the City of Medicine Hat to replace the City’s current
billing system with Cogsdale CSM, Cogsdale Corporation’s customer
information system for local government and utilities.
The City of Medicine Hat Utilities Services Division provides the
safe and reliable delivery of electricity, natural gas, high quality
drinking water, as well as wastewater collection/treatment, solid
waste collection, and recycling/composting for more than 60,0000
area residents, as well as for a variety of commercial and industrial
clients. Currently serving more than 28,000 customer accounts, the
City of Medicine Hat has initiated the implementation of Cogsdale
CSM. This implementation will include: utility billing, service
orders, work management, electronic meter reading, electronic funds
transfer, collections and invoicing. The City will also be implementing
Cogsdale Customer Web, to enable clients to view their bills online
as well as make changes to their contact information.
As a result of an extensive review of its current billing and customer
contact system, the City of Medicine Hat became interested in looking
for ways to increase the speed and over-all efficiency of its billing/customer
contact processes. The City decided that a new system was required
and the search for the right replacement system was on. The City
indicated that the ideal system would provide easier access to data
and meet the data sharing needs of the various service divisions.
In addition, the City required a user-friendly, intuitive system
capable of meeting the City’s evolving internal requirements
as well as the increasing expectations of the City of Medicine Hat’s
utility customers.
By choosing Cogsdale, the City of Medicine Hat will be better positioned
for possible utility deregulation and will enjoy improved system
support now and into the future. The open architecture nature of
Cogsdale CSM will also allow for linkage to third party systems,
such as the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS).
