FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gentrack Bills Vectors’
750,000 Customers
Auckland, September 15, 2005 - Vector Limited,
New Zealand’s largest energy infrastructure company, implemented
Gentrack Network Information System for billing and reconciliation
its 750,000 electricity and gas customers.
New Zealand’s largest energy network infrastructure company
Vector Ltd, has successfully implemented Gentrack for Networks.
Gentrack NIS was implemented in three stages over a 12 month period
to meet the billing and reconciliation requirements of Vectors 750,000
gas and electricity installations.
Vector’s IT Manager Nigel Bonser attributes the success of
the project to a number of aspects, but most notable was “Talgentra’s
ability to deliver on our system expectations and requirements.
Effectively we have been able to design a billing solution around
our business processes, consolidating a number of disparate billing
and network reconciliation solutions and hardware into one solution
to meet all our needs.
Successful data migration for our 750,000 consumers and Gentrack’s
proven flexibility throughout the implementation were also key to
the success of the project”.
The project had significant complexities related to consolidating
Vector’s three billing processes which either bill customers
directly for network charges, invoice energy retailers who pass
on these charges, or reconcile network charges billed on Vector’s
behalf by retailers. In each case, Vector set a requirement to process
and bill monthly consumption data within an intensive 72-hour period.
To meet this expectation, Talgentra proved Gentrack’s capabilities
through benchmarking and extensive retrospective testing undertaken
prior to ‘Go Live’. Gentrack NIS was proven to
reconcile retailer and Vector consumption data within cents and
can process 75,000 utility reference customers per hour, exceeding
all expectations set by Vector.
Vector’s Revenue Manager Tony Hooks commented, “We
went to the market looking for a well proven network billing and
customer information system that could deal with the range of infrastructure
assets that we handle. Gentrack stood out as the best choice for
our requirements. The product is already being used by many other
distribution companies in New Zealand and it has both the breadth
of functionality and billing speed we require. Overall, it represented
excellent value which was complimented by the team’s knowledge
and extensive experience in the market and a strong local support
element.”
