Harris Announces City Of Seward, Alaska Live On Northstar

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, September 7, 200
5 – The City of Seward, Alaska ("Seward") has achieved its milestone of going live with Harris Computer Systems ("Harris”). Seward chose Harris’ NorthStar Customer Information System to manage its 3,000 accounts in water, electric, sewer and refuse.
Advancements in technology coupled with the need to replace an outdated system initiated the replacement project at Seward. The City needed a system flexible enough to meet its current and growing requirements.

Susan Magyar, Utility Billing Supervisor at the City of Seward, worked very closely with the Harris Implementation team and was very satisfied with the process, especially when the first bill was printed: “I cannot say enough about the dedication of the Harris team who really went above and beyond. Being in Alaska, some of the challenges we faced were around working remotely, but everyone did what was necessary to make this work regardless of whether they were onsite.”
Now that the system is running, Ms. Magyar is even more pleased with the City’s choice of NorthStar, “It has changed our lives for the better, and everyone is impressed with the enhanced functionality it offers, most notably the search capability.”
