Systems & Software Extends CIS Solution to Marquette, Michigan

COLCHESTER , VT and MARQUETTE, MI, August 29, 2005 – Systems & Software Inc. (S&S), a leading Customer Information Systems (CIS) provider for the utility industry, announces its newest partnership with the Marquette Board of Light & Power (MBLP).

MBLP, which services roughly 15,000 customers in and around Marquette, covers the largest geographic territory of any municipal electric utility in the state of Michigan. With its legacy system, the utility’s greatest challenge was the need to complete many daily processes from posting payments to the printing of refund checks manually. MBLP is looking forward to the automation enQuesta offers such as having the ability to bar code its bills and make optical scans of cash receipts, among other efficiencies including improved navigational ease for customer service functions.

According to Lon Laken, Controller for MBLP, the process of selecting S&S spanned over two years as they sought to find an optimal solution. MBLP completed numerous on-site and remote demonstrations of the software, conducted site visits of recent installations, performed telephone surveys of current users and visited S&S’ headquarters. “Our findings were consistent - S&S has proven to MBLP that enQuesta is a mature product that most closely matches our needs ,” said Laken. “They are very professional on the personnel front and have a product that represents numerous improvements in comparison to our current system.”

Systems & Software President & CEO, Burt Willey, believes that the thorough, hands-on approach MBLP took in selecting a vendor proves that enQuesta provides the answers that utilities of all sizes are seeking. “We’re very pleased to have been chosen by Marquette,” Willey said. “I am confident enQuesta will enable the utility to deliver its customer service initiatives as well as improve overall departmental efficiency.”
