FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Harris Announces City of Paso Robles Live On Northstar v6.0

OTTAWA, ON, June 15, 2005 – Demonstrating the flexibility of its application architecture, Harris Computer Systems (Harris), a leading provider in Customer Information Systems (CIS) and financial management solutions for utilities and local governments, is pleased to announce that the City of Paso Robles, California (“Paso Robles”) is live on NorthStar v6.0.

Paso Robles has adopted the Microsoft SQL Server™ database as their new application standard and deployed NorthStar v6.0 on a single Windows 2003 Server. The ability of Paso Robles to select SQL is evidence of the tremendous flexibility that Harris now offers to its customers with respect to both operating systems and databases. The IT decisions are now being made by our customers and not us, their vendor.

“Adopting a Windows™ based solution was critical to our IT strategic vision,” said Jennifer Sorenson, Finance Manager at Paso Robles. “Our requirements and technology are constantly changing, so we didn’t want to box ourselves in. With NorthStar v6.0, we have options that leverage our hardware and software investments and, most importantly, protect our training investment in our people.“ NorthStar's ease of implementation coupled with the application’s strong feature set also factored heavily Paso Robles' decision to move forward with it.

NorthStar v6.0 is the next generation of Harris' mid-market CIS offering. Incorporating a state-of-the-art user interface, an n-tier architecture, and multi-platform support, NorthStar v6.0 inherits the enterprise class infrastructure of a Java 2 Enterprise Edition application, providing scalability and reliability for mid-sized utilities such as Paso Robles.

“Deploying to multiple platforms, especially Windows™ based ones, was an essential design element in our development of version 6.0,” said Rob DiMurro, Harris’ Vice President of Research and Development. “We wanted to support our customers as they seek out cost effective infrastructures. The n-tier architecture of NorthStar v6.0 separates the client and business processes from the back-end database, giving our customers tremendous flexibility in selecting the platforms best suited to their budgets and needs. Furthermore, with NorthStar v6.0, we maintain our focus on being the best CIS application provider without being handcuffed to the limitations of any one platform.”
