FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Two New Retailers Choose
Gentrack CIS
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, February 17, 2005 - Further
expansion of full retail contestability in Australia has seen the
Gentrack CIS from Talgentra selected by two more start up retailers
in the region.
Our Neighbourhood Energy is the state of Victoria's latest retailer,
which as a philanthropic organisation, is focused on working with
customers to provide a benefit back into the community, particularly
to children based projects.
Our Neighbourhood Energy decided to opt for the Gentrack NOW! outsource
model as its billing and customer management platform, removing
the need for up front capital investment or the need to purchase
application and database licenses.
Talgentra will set up and configure both the hardware and software
applications with a third party hosting service provider who will
also manage the retailer's service request management and revenue
collection functions.
Jeff Donley from Our Neighbourhood Energy commented, "Our
unique business model means that we have to balance the running
of a streamlined operation maximising the money we can return to
the community, with providing good customer service and ensuring
our systems were robust. We considered all the options available
and decided that working with Talgentra will really give us a head
start in the market. As well as having access to a world class billing
and customer management system, we can tap into the team’s
knowledge of the Victorian energy market."
With its integrated customer relationship management functions
and work flow management tools, the system can be quickly configured
to suit the retailer's specific marketing and customer interfacing
processes, simplifying contract negotiations, prospect management
and the handling of customer enquiries. Our Neighbourhood Energy’s
customer facing team will have 24x7 secure high speed access to
the Gentrack system with the ability to monitor key performance
indicators and quickly evaluate the success of their campaigns.
And by choosing Our Neighbourhood Energy as their electricity retailer,
customers can be assured that they will be getting personalised
service and a robust system for billing and customer service.
Talgentra is also supporting the establishment of a new distributor
and retailer in the state of Tasmania.
Powerco Tasmania and Option One, wholly owned subsidiaries of New
Zealand network company Powerco, are rolling out further gas network
operations in the New Year to respectively distribute and retail
gas to industrial, commercial and residential customers in urban
centres in Tasmania. Both are licensing the Gentrack CIS software
suite to manage their entire customer acquisition, billing and revenue
management cycle allowing them to run a streamlined efficient operation.
Jeff Kendrew from PowerCo commented, "Moving into Australia
we wanted systems that were proven specifically in the energy market.
On the other hand, Option One as a new entrant retailer also wanted
a system that could be adapted quickly to adjust for changes in
the competitive environment. Our relationship with the Gentrack
team in New Zealand told us they had the experience and agility
to handle both."
James Docking, GM Gentrack added, "We are delighted that Our
Neighbourhood Energy and Option One have both decided to go with
Gentrack. With new retailers now having the choice of licensing
the Gentrack software or accessing hosted applications, they can
pick the model that best suits their business strategy. With both
approaches using the highly automated Gentrack CIS which has been
specifically configured to work within NEMCO, barriers to market
entry have been significantly lowered."
The Option One and Our Neighbourhood Energy deals come on the back
of a highly successful year for Talgentra in Australia. Red Energy,
another new energy retailer in Victoria deployed the Gentrack CIS
in July and has been rapidly growing its customer base. Power and
Water also recently implemented the Gentrack CIS to manage their
electricity and water customers in the Northern Territories, while
Flexirent and Vodafone have decided to go with Talgentra’s
Revenue Management solution.

About Our Neighbourhood Energy
Our Neighbourhood Energy is a locally owned private company that
was developed by John Shires and Jeff Donley with the aim of putting
a little balance back into the electricity industry. Instead of
profits being pumped off shore, Our Neighbourhood energy is focused
on providing families the ability to earn discounts on their electricity
bill which would then be put back into local community based projects.
