IBM, Peace Software and
Formfill Help Jackgreen Enter National Electricity Market
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, February 7, 2005 - IBM, Peace
Software and Formfill today announced an on demand technology agreement
that will help Jackgreen (International) Pty Ltd enter the national
electricity market.
Jackgreen, a new entrant renewable energy supplier to residents
and small businesses, plans to acquire over 100,000 new customers
over the next 3 years. To support its strategy, Jackgreen requires
technology infrastructure that allows the business to control costs
and manage risks whilst accommodating business growth.
Under the terms of the agreement, IBM will host and deliver a world-class
utilities industry billing and customer management application from
Peace Software.
Ashleigh Antflick, General Manager – Strategic Operations,
Jackgreen said that the on demand technology agreement will help
Jackgreen to achieve competitive advantage.
"By partnering with IBM, Jackgreen will only pay for the technology
it needs, when it needs it. The agreement allows us to access the
latest technology without incurring up-front capital costs. By shifting
from a fixed cost to variable cost model, we can align our IT costs
with our success in the marketplace," said Mr Antflick.
“By working with IBM,” said Kirsten Garwood, IBM e-Business
Hosting Services, "Jackgreen is able to focus on growing its
core business rather than on its IT infrastructure. IBM is helping
Jackgreen to become an on demand business – flexible, resilient
and focussed."
Peace Software will supply the Peace Customer Information System
(CIS) which will enable Jackgreen to acquire, manage and bill customers.
Formfill will provide the market-leading GateKeeper and DataFlow
Workstation products to enable XML-based communications with the
central NEMMCO systems and other market participants.
The Peace CIS lends itself to an on demand computing environment
because of its thin-client browser architecture, upgradeable off-the-shelf
software model, and proven scalability to support millions of electricity
and gas customers.
