FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Harris Signs New California Customer

October 01, 2004 - Harris Computer Systems ("Harris”) announces that it has entered into an agreement with Alameda Power & Telecom ("Alameda P&T"), a California-based utility. Under the terms of the contract, Harris will implement its NorthStar solution (version 6.0) and transition Alameda from their existing systems. Alameda P&T is scheduled to be live on NorthStar v6.0 in the third quarter of 2005.

Alameda P&T's selection augments Harris' established base of municipal utility customers in California. For Alameda P&T, Harris will integrate NorthStar with existing financial management software and with CSG’s Subscriber Management/Billing System, used for a cable subscriber management. This integration forms a turnkey solution by making NorthStar the lone customer service management system which CSRs use for all customer inquiries.

"Harris provides a solution that is able to address our critical requirement for a single point of contact billing and customer service system," said Sue Evans, Information Systems Supervisor at Alameda P&T. “After an extensive search, Harris provided the solution that would meet our goals of unifying our customer management systems without disrupting the rest of our systems. The flexibility of NorthStar allows us to achieve our customer service and billing objectives without compromising our IT strategy or budget.”

"Harris is committed to delivering cost effective solutions to our customers that meet their changing goals and objectives," said Jeff Bender, CEO of Harris. "NorthStar v6.0 demonstrates our commitment, and Alameda P&T represents yet one more customer which validates our approach. Our ability to integrate NorthStar with other critical systems creates a significant opportunity for utilities searching to achieve more from their legacy billing systems but unable to replace all their other applications."

NorthStar v6.0 is a Java 2 Enterprise Edition application that leverages the functionality and business processes from NorthStar v5.2. NorthStar v6.0 utilizes an n-tier architecture providing full separation between the client, the application, and the database. With this technology, customers choose the operating system and database technology that fits with their budget, strategic IT vision, and internal skill sets.

NorthStar provides core billing, revenue tracking, and unparalleled rate flexibility for a mid market solution. Combined with enhanced customer management features - call and complaint tracking, automatic service order generation, and credit control - NorthStar provides tremendous value to fiscally responsible local governments.
