FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Haines, FL, Chooses Innoprise
Software, Inc.™ to Replace City’s Community Development
Software
ORLANDO, FL and BEND, OR - July 8, 2004 - Haines
City, Florida, ("Haines") has contracted with Innoprise
Software, Inc. for a new technology solution that will replace the
city’s legacy community development system. The Innoprise
Community Development software will support Haines' need for an
end-to-end solution that will provide immediate access to the data
necessary to meet the needs of everyone from individual homeowners
to large developers, thus streamlining the community development
process from start to finish. The new software includes built-in
workflow automation features that track each step of the city's
complex land management process, from city planning, zoning, permitting,
land development, building plan review, building inspections, licensing
and code enforcement. The Building Permits module will be implemented
first, going into production in August, followed by Occupation Licenses
and Code Enforcement. Planning and Zoning, the final module, is
scheduled for production in October 2005.
The decision to purchase new software was driven by the need to
improve work flows and business processes used to effectively manage
the city's growth, which is expected to double by 2010. According
to Richard Greenwood, community development director for the city,
the challenge was to find a system capable of meeting both existing
and future functional requirements and which supported seamless
integration between the various community development modules, an
intuitive user interface design, a native Internet architecture
and the ability to generate reports using standard Microsoft™
Office products. After an intense software evaluation process, Haines
selected Innoprise Software.
The new software will replace a system that's been in place since
1998. "Innoprise Community Development will allow us to streamline
business processes," commented Greenwood. The Web services
architecture will enable the city to provide staff and citizens
with an up-to-date view of the various phases and steps of the permitting
and inspection process, as well as providing the ability to monitor
business license status over the Internet, Greenwood noted. The
software can be easily ported to kiosks and mobile devices to further
extend information access, reduce walk-in traffic and provide building
inspectors with low-cost wireless PDA devices to view and manage
inspections in the field.
"Haines is looking forward to utilizing this newer and more
efficient technology to better serve our customers," said Greenwood.
"With Microsoft Office integration and one-touch reporting,
users across the enterprise can easily exchange data with desktop
applications for generating licenses, renewal notices and reminder
letters. With one click and without the assistance of IT staff,
users can extract information to create even the most complex ad
hoc reports, charts and spreadsheets."
Innoprise Community Development is the first such solution based
on the Java™ 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™)
service-oriented architecture and a multi-tiered Internet-native
platform. The software is integrated with the company's Innoprise
Financial Management software, released in June 2004 and based on
the the culmination of two years of intense effort to build the
next generation standard in platform-neutral, cross-functional Web-based
enterprise technology.
