Winfield, Kansas, First
to Deploy Innoprise Financials Software Solution
ORLANDO, FL and BEND, OR, June 23, 2004 - Innoprise
Software, Inc. today announced that the city of Winfield, Kansas,
has contracted with the company to deploy the Innoprise Financials
suite of software, replacing a legacy system that was no longer
meeting its evolving business needs. Winfield is the first to purchase
the software, which was launched on June 14.
Innoprise Financials is the latest in a suite of next-generation
enterprise resource management solutions developed by the company
using the Java™ 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™)
service-oriented architecture and a multi-tiered Internet-native
architecture. Innoprise Financials provides local government agencies
and utilities with a cross-functional enterprise solution for integrating
financial, inventory, purchasing, accounting, human resources, portfolio
management, payroll, business planning and budgeting information
into one platform-neutral, Internet-based system. Sarbanes-Oxley
enforcement, as well as GASB, FERC and GAAP reporting are all inherent
within the system.
With a goal of simplifying and improving the workflow and reporting
of requisitions, purchase orders and invoices, Winfield selected
the software in part based on its built-in workflow automation features,
which streamline standard business functions and eliminate redundancy,
along with its the ability to support user-defined, workflow-based
business rules that govern how business processes are assigned,
completed and approved in budgeting and purchasing processes.
“From a management perspective, the biggest benefit we are
expecting as a result of the new technology is to eliminate the
labor involved in maintaining separate accounting books,”
said Anne Jarrett, finance officer for the city, explaining that
the city's legacy financial system supported only the budgetary
basis of accounting. Since the city's Comprehensive Annual Financial
Report (CAFR), GAAP basis, must be submitted to the Government Finance
Officers Association (GFOA) six months after year end, this required
that books be converted every year to meet the needs of GAAP reporting.
“I was spending a minimum of 80 hours each year converting
our books from budget to GAAP,” Jarrett said. “With
our new financial system, I will be able to convert to GAAP using
the software's intuitive ‘selector’ tool and quickly
export the information to Excel for state and other regulatory reporting.
Our users can easily select fields they need on their own, and,
with one click, download that information into a spreadsheet for
further manipulation. There's no more reentering information and
managing multiple spreadsheets throughout the city. This one feature
will save us so much time,” she explained.
Innoprise Financials includes Microsoft™ Office integration
and one-touch reporting, enabling users across the enterprise to
easily exchange data with desktop applications and extract information
to create complex ad hoc reports to support rate hearings, analysis
and budgeting requirements. The software also features the ability
to attach multimedia files, such as images, documents, video, sound
or notes to any journal entry, invoice, requisition, purchase order,
vendor or object in the system.
