Gentrack to Demo New Water Billing Features

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, June 12, 2004 - At this year's National Water Conference in Melbourne, Australia, Gentrack will unveil the latest version of its Gentrack CIS software and in particular demonstrate the enhancements that have been made to the system’s water billing functionality.
Gentrack has used its experience of billing and caring for water customers for over a decade to continually develop its CIS system to meet the needs of this evolving environment. With constant regulatory change in the Australian water sector, Gentrack CIS provides water utilities with the power and flexibility to meet their customer service performance goals while ensuring water specific data is accurately captured and easily accessed.

The expanded functionality and performance enhancements to Gentrack CIS include:

  • Support for tracking and management of backflow devices.
  • Support for plumbing applications management such as tracking and invoicing of capital works.
  • Ease of capture of data related to trade waste sampling.
  • Enhancements to the issuing of information statements per property. In most Australia states, the debt for water and sewage supply remains with the property so at the time of sale an information statement will show the balance of the account on that property including any outstanding payments, clauses relating to easements over that specific property and the date of issue and the requester. This feature is already in use by one Gentrack customer to allow online registered users like lawyers and conveyancing agents to access such statements. Enhancements include the ability to either bill for each individual information statement or flag for 'bill later', which then provides the agent with one monthly account for all statements, issued that month.
  • Enhancements to the capture of water specific billing data for the Australian market.
  • Enhanced Microsoft SQL Support in addition to existing support for IBM and Oracle databases.
  • With the completion of porting Gentrack to Windows and AIX, the following operating systems are now supported:
    • Sun Solaris UNIX
    • HP Tru64
    • Linux Advanced Server
    • MS Windows
    • IBM AIX

Gentrack CIS is now deployed in water utilities across Australia including City West Water of Melbourne, ActewAGL in ACT, Power and Water of Darwin and North East Water as well as being used by many of the leading energy retailers in Australasia including Origin Energy, Contact Energy and Genesis Energy.

Gentrack is a major sponsor of the 9th Annual National Water Expo and Conference which will be held in the Melbourne Convention Centre on the 16th and 17th of June. The team will be holding demonstrations of the Gentrack CIS system at stand 20 throughout the two days.
