FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Transforming the Utility Value Chain Through Metering, Billing, CRM/CIS

June 1, 2004 - The second annual Metering Latin America 2004, together with its co-located events, Billing Latin America 2004 and CRM/CIS Latin America 2004 (previously called Metering, Billing, CRM/CIS Brazil) is to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from the 11 to 13 August 2004, at Le Meridien Hotel. The conference is organized with the support of the Brazilian utility: LIGHT.

Utilities in the Latin American region face radical changes due to privatization and restructuring. Competition, tight margins, ownership issues, new players and regulatory challenges create an environment where investments in metering and billing assets need critical analysis.

During this three day international convention, over 50 international experts will provide a key platform for the industry to discuss the latest developments affecting this industry sector and will examine new challenges, new strategies and new solutions for utilities in the region.

The multi-track program will include discussions and presentations on revenue protection, managing data across the value chain, regulatory issues, public/private partnership, outsourcing, sub-metering, AMR, prepayment, standards, testing, billing and customer management technologies, integration, marketing and case studies.

Rui Mano, Principal Consultant of KEMA Consulting Brazil said in support, “It has been a pleasure to see this good initiative to come through and succeed, as this will benefit the whole sector in Brazil and other Latin American countries.”

The 2003 event received excellent support and attracted high level decision makers from the Latin American region. More than 270 delegates from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Caribbean’s, USA, as well as the rest of the world, participated. Latin American utilities have rated the convention as one of the best forums where stakeholders can meet, exchange ideas and create new business opportunities. Many organizations have endorsed the event. Presently sponsors include Itron and SAP.
