FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fort Pierce Utilities Authority
Chooses Cogsdale CSM
PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CANADA, May 12, 2004 - Cogsdale
Corporation is pleased to announce that it was chosen by Fort Pierce
Utilities Authority of Fort Pierce, Florida to provide its financial
management/utility billing/customer information system. Fort Pierce
Utilities Authority began their search for a new system many years
prior, but stepped up its search in January of 2003. They were using
an enterprise wide software application, written in COBOL to support
operations. The system was internally supported but had outlived
its useful life for FPUA. FPUA made the decision to look for a new
system based on a number of issues, including; the system was difficult
to use and to train users on, the language the system was written
in was becoming obsolete and the system was not Windows-based.
The team who chose Cogsdale was focused on finding the best possible
technology to support FPUA operations and ultimately the FPUA customers
for many years. Their main concerns were to improve efficiency as
well as maintain excellence in customer service. When the final
decision was made, it was Cogsdale Corporation who could address
the concerns of FPUA and could also provide the functionality and
technology platform required in their new system.
Cogsdale started implementation in January 2004. It is expected
that the financial modules will go live in July 2004 and Cogsdale
CSM will be live in December 2004. As a Microsoft Gold Certified
Partner, Cogsdale will use Windows servers and the SQL Server 2000
Database Management System to provide a secure stable environment
for the new system at Fort Pierce.
According to Frank Varella, Director of Corporate Services at FPUA,
“The Cogsdale/Great Plains solution, with its partnership
with Microsoft and their friendly Windows applications is the right
solution at the right time for FPUA. It is a mature product that
has proven itself in applications at other similar sites. FPUA will
benefit by having a state of the art customer services system as
well as making operational improvements to its business processes.
This is extremely important for a utility with growing customer
needs in these changing times.”
