FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Innoprise Software, Inc. Launches New Generation of Java-Based, Internet-Native CIS Software

ORLANDO, FL and BEND, OR, May 4, 2004 - Innoprise Software, Inc. announced today the release of the industry’s next generation in Customer Information System (CIS) software. Innoprise CIS is the first package in a suite of fully integrated enterprise software solutions being developed by the company to meet the evolving business needs of utilities and local government agencies.

The launch of Innoprise CIS marks the culmination of two years of intense effort to build the next generation standard in platform-neutral, cross-functional enterprise technology.

The first such solution that's based on a Java™ 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) service-oriented architecture and a multi-tiered Internet-native architecture, Innoprise CIS offers enterprises the ability to unify customer and financial data and business processes across all departments, divisions and systems. Providing Innoprise customers a single, consistent view of data -- down to the transaction level -- the new software enables both large and small organizations to deploy and maintain a high-performance, fully-customized Internet-based CIS in less time and at a much lower cost than required with traditional legacy-based or client-server solutions. Customers benefit not only through improved profitability, reduced operational costs and better customer service, but also from a payback that's measured in months, rather than years.

"Innoprise CIS is a major breakthrough for utilities and government agencies struggling with the high costs and technical complexities of maintaining legacy CIS solutions," said Dennis Harward, Innoprise founder and CEO. "Companies can no longer afford the high maintenance costs and poor functional capabilities associated with revenue and customer management systems that are 15 to 20 years old and a nightmare to modify, update or integrate."

A recent survey conducted by AMR and published in the February 2004 issue of Computerworld indicated that information technology (IT) managers have seen their software maintenance costs increase by as much as 15% to 25% over the past five years. Within the utility industry alone, IT managers report spending, on average, $150,000 a year just to maintain their legacy CIS/CRM systems.

"The large, monolithic legacy systems that utilities have historically used to manage customer information not only are incapable of providing rapid access to the information customer service representative need to help today’s Web-savvy customers with their on-demand requests," Harward said, “but oftentimes they actually inhibit companies from improving customer services. With factors like performance-based-rates and severe penalties for poor service raising the stakes higher and higher each day, the need for immediate access to the data required to handle customer concerns is becoming increasingly critical, as is the requirement to respond more rapidly to evolving regulatory rules and rate changes in a timely manner. In building a totally new, clean-slate solution using the latest technology, Innoprise has overcome the limitations of older-generation legacy systems, enabling customers to better support their emerging business."

The Innoprise CIS open architecture and flexibility enable users to quickly and easily add new services, products and rate structures as their business needs and regulatory demands change. They also result in the ability to fully leverage each customer’s existing technology investments, along with ease of integration to external systems with no need to maintain costly interfaces. With Microsoft™ Office integration and one-touch reporting, users across the enterprise can easily exchange data with desktop applications and extract information to create even the most complex ad hoc reports to support rate hearings, analysis and budgeting requirements. Optimized for automation, scalability and the continued evolution of each customer’s business environment, the software is designed to yield a rapid return on investment.

Innoprise CIS not only supports the standard capabilities required in a full-function CIS, but also provides built-in functionality for advanced features such as customer self-service, online bill presentation and payment, and complex rating and billing, to name a few. It includes built-in workflow automation features that streamline standard business functions and eliminate redundancy. Functions supported include:

  • Billing
  • Credit and collection management
  • Advanced cash receipts
  • Service order management
  • Customer self-service
  • Automated bill presentation and payment
  • Service order management
  • Meter reading and inventory
  • Route and cycle maintenance
  • Call management
  • Rate management
  • Usage management
  • Revenue management
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Mobile service order processing and dispatching
