Fastest Growing County in Michigan
Goes Live with Harris CIS
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, May 15, 2003 - Harris
Computer Systems ('Harris') is pleased to announce that Oakland
County Drain Commission ('Oakland County') has successfully implemented
the Harris Customer Information System PUBS v5.2. After balancing
100% of their customer accounts receivable balances during their
parallel testing phase, Oakland County has gone "live"
on the Harris CIS. All billing functions, customer management, and
consumption reporting is now managed by the PUBS v5.2 system.
Harris was selected by Oakland County in 2002 after
Plant Moran managed a rigorous selection process involving seven
vendors. Harris demonstrated that PUBS v5.2 had the flexibility
to manage the unique billing requirements of Oakland County and
Harris as a company had the knowledge and experience to ensure a
successful implementation.
"We really liked Harris' functional and user
friendly screen layout," recalls Sandy Greenacre, Supervisor
of Water Sewer Billing at Oakland County. "We wanted a simple
and easy to use system for our customer service people but it had
to have all the customers' data in one place. However, the big criterion
for us was the ability to manage our rate calculation. Harris was
the only vendor that was flexible enough to actually show us how
we would handle this. We felt Harris' system was the most complete
of the vendors we looked at."
"We are extremely pleased to see Oakland County
live on our system. Both Oakland County and Plant Moran had us run
the gauntlet during the selection process," explained Jeff
Bender, President of Harris. "Reaching this milestone is a
testament of the flexibility of our product and the strength of
our company. However, this is just the beginning of a long term
relationship."
Oakland County is now preparing to leverage their
investment in the Harris CIS and introduce new services, such as
automatic bill payment, that were not possible with their legacy
billing systems.
