FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STS/Snohomish - CIS Installation
EVERETT, WA., April 16, 2003 - Snohomish County Public Utility
District (the District) released STS’ CIS OPEN VISION version 3.7.8
into production in Everett, Washington on January 13, 2003. Located
approximately 20 miles north of Seattle, the District provides electric,
water, and miscellaneous services to 260,000 customers over a 2,200
square mile area. The District’s billing cycles are bi-monthly for
residential customers and monthly for commercial and industrial
customers.
The project, with an onsite team of 9 STS and 26 District employees
and contractors, accelerated after getting final approval from the
District’s ruling body to implement the system. Following weeks
of extensive testing, system validation and training, the data conversion,
process began on January 10, 2003. This successfully ran in less
than 24 hours. After completion of post-conversion tasks and a final
application checkout, CIS OPEN-VISION was released into production
to the general user population (approximately 200 full-time users).
The first batch run generated 9,416 bills and ran to completion
without failure in less than four hours. Since then the system has
been consistently producing, approximately 8,000-10,000 bills per
night. Over the first eight weeks, bills have averaged 99.88% accuracy,
the remaining 0.12% being mainly bill format/presentation issues.
The District took delivery of release 3.8.0 of the product on March
28, 2003. This release includes updates to third party software
components of the system. The District is planning to have this
system in production by June of 2003.
An STS business analyst is contracted to the District and will
be on-site for a period of one year from the go-live date.
STS and the District are working under a normal supplier/customer
relationship with a Support & Maintenance agreement in effect
for two years from October 28, 2002.
