Indus Signs Contract with Tokyo
Electric Power Co.
Japan's Largest Electric Power Company to Implement Localized Version
of PassPort to Streamline Nuclear Work Management and Reporting
ATLANTA, GA., BUSINESS WIRE, April 14, 2003 - Indus International
Inc. IINT, provider of ActionPoint Management™ Solutions, today
announced a significant new contract with Tokyo Electric Power Company
(TEPCO), the largest electric power company in Japan and the world's
largest private electric power company.
The company signed a contract for a localized version of PassPort™,
Indus' premier enterprise asset management (EAM) solution for nuclear
utilities, to enhance work management and reporting capabilities
for its nuclear facilities.
"In order to continue meeting the challenges of the competitive
Japanese power industry, TEPCO is putting an advanced work management
and reporting system in place for our nuclear generation facilities,"
said TEPCO. "We chose Indus to provide this system for several
reasons. First, the PassPort product is uniquely suited to the nuclear
industry; many of the best practices we aim to implement are already
in place. Also, Indus' market share, expertise and successful track
record in nuclear power make it clear that they are the right company
to help us meet our goals for future growth."
"TEPCO is a case study in performance, providing stable and
consistent power to one of the largest and most demanding customer
bases in the world: the Greater Tokyo Metropolitan Area," said
Indus CEO Tom Madison. "With more than 27 million users, exceeding
the power consumption of the entire country of Italy, TEPCO chooses
only the best tools to meet the ever-growing demand of its customers.
Being chosen by TEPCO is further evidence of our expanding leadership
in the worldwide utilities industry."
TEPCO has purchased a PassPort solution, including Work Management,
Inventory Management and Action Tracking, that will support its
current maintenance improvement initiative across the nuclear division.
The company is also implementing a Reliability-Centered Maintenance
(RCM) system in order to develop a new maintenance system together
with their PassPort solution.
A Growing Presence in Asia-Pacific
The TEPCO contract continues Indus' growing presence in the increasingly
competitive power industry in the Asia-Pacific region. Following
a successful pilot project, Indus won an additional contract in
December 2001 with leading Japanese utility company J-Power (formerly
Electric Power Development Company Ltd.), Japan's largest electric
power wholesaler. This contract is for the national rollout of Indus'
EMPAC™ maintenance solution and the Curator document management
solution to support a total of 58 hydroelectric power plants across
Japan.
Indus also signed new partnerships with Tokyo-based IT services
company Kaihatsu Computing Service Center Ltd. (KCC) and Shanghai-based
Yao De Computer Software Co., Ltd. KCC is a highly respected IT
services company with expertise in electric power systems and has
been appointed as the first EMPAC Help Desk in Japan. Yao De, the
operational arm of A3 Systems Limited of Hong Kong, signed a master
software distribution agreement with Indus in October 2002. Based
in Shanghai, Yao De markets, sells, services and supports Indus
localized products in the People's Republic of China (excluding
Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau).
"Our goal is to clearly establish Indus as the market leader
in enterprise asset management for the Asia-Pacific power industry,
and we are accomplishing that goal by fully localizing our systems,
establishing our presence in the local markets and securing large
orders from leading utilities in the region," said Peter Wirth,
President - Asia Pacific for Indus. "This significant contract
with TEPCO proves that we are taking the right steps to meet the
needs of a growing market."
