FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dominica Electricity Services Takes
CIS Infinity Live
Dominica Electricity Services (Domlec) completes the successful
implementation of a new Customer Information System
TORONTO, CANADA, November 20, 2002 - Advanced Utility
Systems is pleased to announce that Dominica Electricity Services
Limited (Domlec), the electric utility serving the 71,000 residents
of the Commonwealth of Dominica, has successfully implemented CIS
Infinity.
CIS Infinity went live in May 2002. It is supporting all elements
of Customer Services for Domlec, including Billing, Inventory Management,
Cashiering, Collections, Service Orders and Bill Presentation. It
is operational at the main office in Roseau as well as the cashiering
operations at Portsmouth and Margot.
The new CIS solution will assist the team at Domlec in meeting
its overall goals. Gareth Doctrove, Manager of Customer Service
for Domlec, is excited about the new software. “We want to enhance
our levels of customer service and CIS Infinity provides us a modern,
comprehensive tool to assist us in this goal."
The flexibility of CIS Infinity provides the team at Domlec with
several new areas of functionality. One area of importance is in
the area of custom bill presentation. Gareth Doctrove commented,
"We are very pleased with the look and feel of our bills. We
are using the bill to communicate not only billing information but
also information about local community events and activities. For
example, as we entered hurricane season we were able to include
hurricane warnings and hurricane information with our bills. Our
first bills with the new system included pictures of the staff in
our billing group, and in the future we can use more visual images
including pictures and graphs."
The software implementation required approximately 9 months to
complete. Major milestones in the areas of Data Conversion, Software
Configuration and Training were established and effectively met.
Advanced participated in post-live support for roughly 3 months
as the system users gained expertise in dealing with a totally new
product. During this period Advanced provided “at-the-elbow” training
and project management services to assist the users of CIS Infinity
as they moved from a mainframe environment to a windows graphical
user interface.
According to Patricia Sorbara the President and CEO of Advanced
Utility Systems, “the leadership provided by both Gareth Doctrove
and Bob Watson, General Manager of Domlec, was critical in the overall
success of the project. The degree of change with new software as
all-encompassing as a Customer Information system is very high,
and it is necessary for an organization to have project “owners”
to direct such a large project. Gareth and Bob were these owners,
and smoothly directed the overall implementation.
