Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio Selects
ESG to provide Transaction and Supplier Management Services
PEMBROE, MA., October, 9 2002 -Vectren Energy Delivery of
Ohio (VEDO), a regulated natural gas utility, and subsidiary to
Vectren Corporation (NYSE:VVC), selected Energy Services Group,
Inc. (ESG) of Massachusetts to provide transaction management services
in support of their upcoming deregulation efforts in Ohio. As part
of the relationship, ESG will administer VEDO’s testing and certification
of participating gas marketers, provide VEDO with systems interfaces
and integration support, and manage VEDO’s daily volume of transactions
required for enrollment of customers in VEDO’s deregulation program.
VEDO will utilize ESG’s Supplier Portal to support participating
marketers and meet requirements of the Public Utilities Commission
of Ohio.
The VEDO Supplier Portal, a web interface developed and operated
by ESG, allows gas marketers in VEDO’s service area the ability
to manage their electronic business transactions in much less time
and at far lower costs than conventional EDI interfaces. In addition,
the VEDO Supplier Portal will provide gas marketer testing and certification
updates, retail market business rules, comprehensive information
regarding tariff postings/links, frequently asked questions, schedules,
and implementation guidelines.

VEDO’s strategic decision to outsource their electronic transaction
business to ESG comes at a time when regulators are pushing for
the markets to be small-supplier friendly. ESG’s Supplier Portal
gives VEDO the infrastructure needed to cost-effectively manage
both types of suppliers: large marketers with sophisticated electronic
business transaction systems and capabilities, and small marketers
with limited resources and systems.
