FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
City of Pensacola Selects Advanced
Utility Systems Corporation for New CIS Solution
The City of Pensacola
has chosen to license CIS Infinity, the Customer Information System
from Advanced Utility Systems, for the Energy Services of Pensacola
(ESP), the natural gas provider owned by the City.
TORONTO, CANADA, September 4, 2002 - Advanced Utility
Systems Corporation (Advanced) announced today that the City of
Pensacola has contracted with Advanced Utility Systems Corporation
to provide CIS Infinity Customer Information and Utility Billing
software for ESP. CIS Infinity will handle the customer information
and billing needs of the City, and deal with the complexities inherent
with providing Natural Gas and Solid Waste billing services.
The search for a new CIS solution began in the summer of 2001,
culminating in the selection of Advanced in May of this year. The
City found CIS Infinity to be a superior, functionally rich solution
that would meet the City's needs. The implementation began in July,
and is forecast to require roughly one year to complete.
The City’s team is excited that the implementation has begun.
They conducted an extensive search through the RFP process and utilized
the expertise of Langham Consulting Services, Inc. To ensure that
they properly evaluated all potential vendors. Now that they have
chosen Advanced they are anxious to complete the implementation.
Advanced is able to draw upon the experience garnered from the
implementation of CIS Infinity at numerous energy utilities. "Pensacola
will use CIS Infinity to bill for multiple services," said
Steve Hammond, the CIO at Advanced, "the implementation team
will draw upon their experience and the flexibility built-into CIS
Infinity to ensure the complexities within the rates, and customer
care features are handled smoothly."
Pensacola is opting for an Oracle database, using an AIX UNIX
platform. Set-up will occur at three office locations across a wide
area network. Cash collection is handled at a central location,
using the cash register module shipped with CIS Infinity.
Patricia Sorbara, the President and Chief Executive Officer of
Advanced commented on the partnership just forming between Advanced
and Pensacola, “Advanced is excited to add another client in the
Florida marketplace. We have focused on this market for some time
and are excited that a large, sophisticated, and customer focused
client such as ESP has selected CIS Infinity to meet their customer
needs.”
ESP supplies natural gas to most of Escambia County. ESP purchases
their natural gas from Prior Energy who purchases natural gas from
many sources in the Southern states located along the Gulf South
Pipeline System. ESP is owned and operated by the City of Pensacola
who establishes natural gas rates.
