MxEnergy Implements Gentrack
CIS in Less Than 3 Months
Competition in Illinois heats up as a result of a successful
Gentrack implementation
DAYTON,OH., June 20, 2002 - MXEnergy, a USA based energy
retailer, has successfully completed a rapid implementation of the
Gentrack™ Billing and Customer Information Software System
allowing it to compete in the Illinois retail gas market.
When MxEnergy, an Eastern States gas supplier decided to enter
the retail market in Illinois it called on the team at Gentrack
to insure it would have a billing and customer information system
on time. Earlier MxEnergy had selected Gentrack CIS to provide rate
ready bills for distribution through six local distribution companies
(LDC's) but the scope of the implementation increased with MxEnergy’s
decision to enter the emerging Illinois market. Within ten weeks,
the gas supplier needed to be able to bill mass-market customers
directly and accurately, quickly enrol new customers from the incumbent
local distribution company, NICOR Gas, and offer flexible communication
options to new customers.
"MX Energy's reasons for selecting Gentrack were its scalability,
its ability to be tuned to our specific needs and its adaptability
to deal with evolving market conditions", said Greg Taffet,
MX Energy’s CIO, "but until the opportunity arose to compete
as a retailer in the Illinois gas market, we didn’t think we’d have
to put the flexibility of the Gentrack software and the team to
the test."
Nine weeks later MX Energy commenced trading in Illinois and is
well on the way towards meeting its expectations for this market
segment. "The speed of the Gentrack implementation and the knowledge
that the Gentrack team brought to the entire process has given us
a definite time to market advantage" continued Greg. "And
straightaway our call center customer rep’s were realizing the benefit
of the customer centric database which ensures that all customer
information is easily and instantly available".
"We are delighted, but not surprised, to have been able to adapt
Gentrack to MX Energy’s requirements and implement the solution
within such a rapid timeframe", said Andrew Wereszczynski, Gentrack
MD."Several years of implementing such systems in the deregulated
energy environments of Australia and New Zealand meant the team
has the process, the industry knowledge and the flexible product
to deliver in demanding time frames."
MxEnergy, headquartered in Stamford CT, now plans to roll out
its retail energy offerings in other states as they open up to competition.
Phase two of the Gentrack implementation, currently being completed,
is the development of a configurable interface which will allow
MxEnergy to configure its own file interchange between it and the
LDC’s allowing rapid entry into the new markets as they become available
because of deregulation.
Once again Gentrack has proved that it can deliver to tight schedules,
providing innovative solutions to customers business requirements
in the evolving energy retail market.
