& Gas Industry
Comprehensive Out-of-the-Box
Industry Functionality Enables Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream
Oil and Gas Companies to Deliver Superior, Personalized Customer
Service and Accelerate Time to Profit
SAN MATEO, CA., March 11, 2002 - Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:
SEBL), the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software,
today announced new and enhanced functionality for Siebel eOil &
Gas 7. Reflecting Siebel Systems' proven domain, industry, and technology
expertise, Siebel eOil & Gas 7 provides depth and breadth of
functionality in sales, marketing, service, and other customer-touching
business processes tailored specifically for the oil and gas industry,
resulting in faster deployments, high rates of end user adoption,
and a rapid return on investment.
Unparalleled CRM Functionality Delivers Compelling Return on Investment
Siebel eOil & Gas 7 launches with the industry's first and most
comprehensive, out-of-the-box eBusiness functionality mapped to
support the business processes of the oil and gas industry. The
new release delivers specific enhancements tailored to upstream,
midstream, and downstream segments of the industry, including improved
asset management and field service capabilities and enhanced, industry-specific
marketing analysis functionality.
Industry leaders, including Schlumberger Technology Corporation,
Halliburton Energy Services, Inc., BASF AG, and Equilon Enterprises
LLC, have selected Siebel eOil & Gas 7 as their CRM standard.
More than 100 of the world's top energy companies are already realizing
significant benefits from implementing Siebel eBusiness Applications,
including upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas companies,
such as Kuwait Petroleum International. Kuwait Petroleum International
is the seventh-largest oil conglomerate in the world and operates
a network of more than 5,000 service stations across nine countries
under the "Q8" brand. Through Siebel eBusiness Applications,
Kuwait Petroleum integrated several independent systems and developed
a single, comprehensive view of its service stations, enabling its
sales force to effectively support sites worldwide.
"With Siebel eBusiness Applications, our sales representatives
can gather competitive information from their region, understand
which services are offered, and quickly provide this information
to the management team," said Leo Stolk, Manager of Special
Projects, Q8.
"Using this information, we not only build a comprehensive
picture of the competitive landscape, we can also determine our
marketing strategy for that region, respond to new developments,
and determine whether it would be profitable to provide a full service
or just a simple fueling service. We have successfully integrated
our disparate customer-facing systems into a single, comprehensive
view of the customer, which is available quickly and easily to anyone
within the Retail organization. In addition, Q8 is today able to
respond more
quickly to revenue-generating sales opportunities, identify the
most lucrative sites for new service stations, and ensure that our
customers receive the best possible service and satisfaction. Siebel
Systems' focus on oil and gas companies, as shown through the ongoing
development of industry-specific solutions, such as Siebel eOil
& Gas, provides a foundation for our continued success, while
enabling us to provide truly exceptional customer service."
Siebel eOil & Gas 7 is designed specifically for oil and gas
companies to resolve critical pain points across key business processes,
leading to increased revenue and profitability. Some of the features
in this new release developed for upstream oil and gas companies
include:
- Comprehensive Asset Management: Enables companies to track and
optimize scheduling of their own costly assets, such as rigs,
to reduce downtime and improve efficiencies. Additionally, for
customer-owned assets, upstream oil and gas companies can increase
their customer's switching costs by managing their assets for
them, and providing value-added services, such as notifying a
customer when production rates indicate that a well may need treatment.
- Enhanced Channel Partner Management: Provides technology to
increase revenue, drive customer satisfaction, and reduce partnership
management costs related to service providers, contractors, and
distributors. It also provides visibility to service providers
and contractor activity at a particular field and/or well site.
- Improved Project Management: Delivers enterprise-wide views
of projects enabling companies to track projects associated with
their assets and servicing of those assets. Employees can automatically
route proposals, track costs, and update statuses, giving executives
a real-time snapshot of projected revenues to better manage their
investments.
Key benefits delivered to downstream oil and gas companies through
the new release include:
- Better Customer Insight: Siebel Analytics allows customer data
gathered from credit card swipes at a pump or point-of-sale system
to generate personalized offers that will guide customers to add
higher margin convenience store purchases, car washes, and car
servicing to their typical low margin fuel purchases.
- Higher Customer Loyalty and Profitability: Comprehensive asset
management functionality increases customer switching costs by
maintaining a comprehensive auto maintenance history on each customer
and automatically reminding customers to schedule maintenance
at a nearby station. It also supports marketing of related products
that customers can receive at a discount during service.
- Increased Sales and Service Effectiveness: Comprehensive, multichannel
functionality enables collection of data from numerous discreet
devices at a site, such as underground storage tanks, gauges,
gasoline dispensers, and point-of-sale systems. The collected
data can trigger alerts, such as a low inventory or a tank leak.
Powerful channel partner management tools and proven mobile sales
solutions embedded within the new release also enable anytime/anywhere
access to coordinate account information via handheld devices,
allowing retail station managers to log their service requests
or order additional inventory. Also, companies can optimally schedule
repair work and deliveries to reduce costly site visits, and contractors
can review their service requests and log activities and expenses
while on site.
These enhancements are enabling Siebel Systems to deliver on strategic
imperatives to the oil and gas and related industries, including
the need to target, win, and retain the best customers, accelerate
time to profit, increase operational efficiencies, and deliver superior,
personalized customer service.
"Volatile market conditions, severe price, product performance,
and service competition are now the norm in the increasingly competitive
upstream and downstream oil and gas industries," said Jim McCray,
General Manager, Siebel Energy. "Multiple, frequent, consistent,
and high-quality touch points with customers worldwide have become
key differentiators of performance and the essential foundation
for growth. Siebel eOil & Gas 7 offers the first and most complete
suite of eBusiness products designed specifically to support this
growth. Based on a suite of more than one hundred sales, service,
and marketing software modules, Siebel eOil & Gas 7 delivers
user-friendly tools that empower and motivate oil and gas companies
to establish more frequent, intimate and collaborative relationships
with their suppliers. In addition, the industry-specific solution
is routinely linked to recently installed ERP systems for seamless
integration between back office data and all front office interfaces
with customers, enabling companies to reach each and every customer
with tailored, cost-effective communications across all sales and
service interactions."
Smart Web Architecture Enables Rapid Deployment and High User Acceptance
Siebel eOil & Gas 7 was built on the foundation of the newly
announced Siebel 7 platform. With the release of Siebel 7, Siebel
Systems introduced the Siebel Smart Web Architecture, the industry's
first and only zero-footprint Web architecture that provides high
levels of interactivity previously available only from Windows desktop
applications. Siebel 7 was built from the ground up to operate in
heterogeneous environments and by supporting integration via an
"application network," allowing organizations to not only
integrate front office and back office systems, but also hundreds
of other applications essential to the oil and gas industry. By
offering robust application network support, Siebel eOil & Gas
7 ensures interoperability with the many applications within an
oil and gas organization's systems environment, including homegrown
legacy systems, industry-specific niche applications, and external
applications for collaborating with partner systems. Siebel eEnergy
applications have been successfully integrated with most of the
common packaged back office applications.
Robust Analytical Capabilities Provide Customer and Business Insight
Siebel eOil & Gas 7 is also shipping with Siebel Analytics 7,
which includes visual, prepackaged, and fully configurable reports
and interactive dashboards with best practice metrics for sales,
marketing, service, partner management, and executive users. All
Siebel Industry Applications deliver tailored and robust analytical
and reporting capabilities that provide role-based analytics with
insight into customer trends and overall business performance.
Automated Upgrade Path Provides Low Total Cost of Ownership Siebel
eOil & Gas 7 offers a clear and easy upgrade path for customers,
including automated upgrade functionality, resulting in reduced
deployment times and the lowest total cost of ownership. Unlike
most applications software, Siebel eOil & Gas 7 allows existing
customers to employ an automated process to upgrade to the latest
version of the application by combining and merging customizations
with new functionality on the enhanced platform.
Siebel Systems has been actively engaged with selected application
vendors, such Experio, the Business and IT Consulting Unit of Hitachi,
Ltd., to provide validated, integrated solutions.
"Experio has been a Siebel Systems Consulting Partner since
1997," said Dave Sheridan, Experio Siebel Energy Practice
Director. "In that time, we've worked with Siebel Systems to
deploy superior solutions that deliver industry-specific benefits
for the oil and gas industries. Siebel eOil & Gas 7 advances
this effort by providing key industry functionality specifically
designed for oil and gas companies, leveraging expertise from industry
leaders around the world. Our teams have been building customer-driven
product presentations based on Siebel eOil & Gas 7 since Summer
2001, and Experio has built an eEnergy Quickstart methodology to
accelerate go-to-market times for Siebel Systems' oil and gas customers."
