EVANSVILLE, IN. and LEXINGTON, MA., October 10, 2001– Excelergy® Corporation, the world's first provider of open co-action software products to the energy/utility industry and other restructuring markets, has signed an agreement with Vectren Source, the unregulated retail unit of Vectren Corporation (NYSE: VVC), to rapidly implement two configurations of the Excelergy Advanced Business Package™ – the core Customer Care & Billing and Prospecting configurations. Vectren Source is in the process of launching natural gas, electricity supply and other energy related products and services in the Midwest United States.

Vectren Source will use Excelergy's open co-action products to expand sales of electricity, natural gas and energy-related products and services to residential and small business consumers. Currently, Vectren Corporation serves nearly one million customers in adjoining service territories that cover nearly two-thirds of Indiana and west central Ohio.

The core Customer Care & Billing configuration automatically manages customer acquisition/retention and billing processes; other configurations manage prospecting, complex billing, forecasting and settlement.

The Prospecting configuration of the Excelergy Advanced Business Package, which integrates seamlessly with the core Customer Care & Billing configuration, manages all prospecting-related business processes from prospect identification through customer enrollment. It creates a central repository for all potential customers, manages key prospect communications, handles large data volumes and large numbers of concurrent sales associates, and supplies event logging and interaction history.
