SAIC Names Neil Cox Executive
Vice President of Telecommunications Sector
SAN DIEGO, CA., July 18, 2001 - Science Applications International
Corporation (SAIC) announced that Neil Cox has been named Executive
Vice President of the Telecommunications Integration Sector for
Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). In this role,
Cox will be responsible for overall management and operation of
SAIC's Telecommunications Integration Sector. "SAIC is extremely
pleased to have a person of Neil's caliber to take our telecommunications
integration efforts to new levels," said Dr. J. R. Beyster,
SAIC chairman, president and chief executive officer. "With
his senior management experience and deep involvement in the telecommunications
business, Neil will be a major asset to SAIC as it continues to
grow and prosper." Before joining SAIC, Cox was the president
of SecurityLink from Ameritech, one of the world's largest security
and monitoring companies. Earlier, he served as president of Ameritech
Information Industry Services, the business unit of Ameritech responsible
for serving customers requiring access to Ameritech's network, vice
president of Ameritech's international business unit, and director
of engineering for Ameritech's cellular business unit.
Cox began his career in 1972, when he joined Indiana Bell where
he held several engineering and operations responsibilities. In
1984, Cox joined Bell Communications Research in New Jersey where
he headed a team with responsibilities for distribution fundamental
planning, ISDN development and DSL standards.
Cox is active in both civic and industry organizations, serving
on the Board ofTrustees for the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy
Museum, International Engineering Consortium, Executives Club of
Chicago, the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, and Wireless
Online. He also has served on the Board of Directors for Centertel
in Poland, NetCom in Norway, MaygarCom and MATAV in Hungary, "Wer
liefert was?" in Germany, Daleen Technologies, Energy Connections,
and the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. In 1998, Cox
was awarded the "Mickey Leland Award" which is awarded
to the nation's top telecommunications professional for excellence
in diversity.
