Titan Corporation Subsidiary Cayenta
and ElectriCities Partner to Offer New Billing Solution to Western
North Carolina Cities
Initial Contracts Valued at Approximately
$2.1 Million
SAN DIEGO, CA., July 13, 2001 - ElectriCities, a trade organization
representing Public Power Communities and Cayenta, a subsidiary
of The Titan Corporation (NYSE: TTN), have announced plans to offer
member cities of ElectriCities a new Customer Information System
(CIS). The Cayenta CIS solution will help cities streamline their
billing procedures while increasing efficiency through a program
specifically designed for municipal organizations.
Through the agreement with Cayenta, all ElectriCities members are
eligible to take advantage of a preferred pricing arrangement with
Cayenta. ElectriCities is offering participation in this project
initially to the members of North Carolina Municipal Power Agency
1. Power Agency 1 represents 19 cities in Western North Carolina.
The cities of Gastonia and Lexington, two members of Power Agency
1 have already contracted to use the Cayenta CIS solution and are
underway with their implementations. The combined value of the agreements
with Gastonia and Lexington is approximately $2.1 million.
"This will enable the 19 cities that make up North Carolina
Municipal Power Agency 1 to share common software, staff expertise
and support as well as standardized customer service, " said
Art Hubert, Chief Operating Officer for ElectriCities. "It's
another step in creating a cost saving regional approach in how
our cities do business," he added.
The technology in Cayenta's CIS software will enable ElectriCities
to provide enhanced services to their customers for years to come.
Each of the 19 Power Agency 1 cities has the option of buying into
the project, which also allows two or more cities to share a system
should they decide to do so. North Carolina Municipal Power Agency
1 will provide its members co-funding for the Cayenta system when
enough cities have committed to the project.
"Cayenta is extremely proud of this new long-term relationship
with ElectriCities. We look forward to the opportunity to partner
with the ElectriCities members by providing them with an application
that is functionally rich, highly configurable and will continue
to support their future services and technology needs," said
Mike Gardner, General Manager of Cayenta's Utility and Municipality
Business Unit. "This partnership with ElectriCities further
supports the strategic initiatives that we have undertaken with
regard to development of our products and services for the Public
Power markets," he added.
