BEND, OR., May 14, 2001 - ORCOM, the leading vertical application service provider (VSP) of customer information and billing solutions to the utility industry, has named Pat Sarkar as its new Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Sarkar comes to ORCOM from Navicor/ea Consulting, where he helped launch the company's service provider offering to the utility industry, and previously held director-level positions with Big-5 consulting firm KPMG and Hewlett-Packard. He also held CIO-level positions with TPL Inc. and other companies.

As CIO, he will oversee the design, development, deployment and support of ORCOM's product strategy as well as for the overall backbone of ORCOM's VSP offering, including its delivery infrastructure and high availability network. Sarkar brings to ORCOM more than 20 years of business and technology experience including more than 10 years' experience in executive management roles.

Sarkar most recently was an executive vice president with Navicor/ea consulting, which provides best-practice integrated solutions for utilities and other public sector market segments. Prior to Navicor, Sarkar was a practice director for KPMG, where he managed large-scale global e-strategy and eBusiness product development and implementation projects, as well as led infrastructure design and development for customer relationship management (CRM) clients.

Additionally, Sarkar served as Consulting Director for Hewlett-Packard, and CIO of TPL, where he led process re-engineering efforts worldwide, including projects involving the migration of legacy customer support systems and data centers to an e-commerce/SAP environment.
