Derivion Sets High Standard
for E-Billing Adoption with Consumer Enrollment Growing in Excess
of 35% Monthly
Leading E-billing Solutions
Provider Makes Internet Billing Pay With Innovative "Activation
Marketing" Program
ATLANTA, GA., February 21, 2001 - Derivion, the leading
provider of e-billing enablement solutions for B2C, B2B, and small
business applications, reports that end-user adoption for billers
in its Activation Marketing program is growing at a rate of more
than 35 percent month over month. Since introducing Activation Marketing
last year, a unique resource aimed at accelerating and building
momentum for end-user adoption of e-billing, Derivion has strategically
partnered with biller clients to design and implement powerful programs
that promote and accelerate consumer enrollment. Derivion's Activation
Marketing clients have surpassed 50,000 enrolled users. In addition,
this group has achieved an average adoption rate of 1.86 percent
in less than five months-representing nearly twice the industry
average.
"By partnering with customers through the lifecycle of the
e-billing solution, Derivion has made incredible progress with end-user
adoption, surpassing, in just a few months, industry wide adoption
levels that have remained stagnant for the past several years,"
said Paul Hughes, director of Billing and Payment Application Strategies
research at the Yankee Group. "Gaining customer enrollment
is the return on investment most billers are looking for and Derivion's
success in implementing and assisting billers to Move the adoption
needle demonstrates the durability of the company's e-billing service
and the potential success for e-billing adoption for the industry."
Farmers Insurance Group, the nation's third largest home and auto
insurance provider, has gained an enrollment population of more
than 10,000 customers in less than eight weeks followed closely
by Microcell Solutions Inc., a national provider of Personal Communications
Services (PCS) under the FidoŽ brand name, with almost 8,000 end-users
since the introduction of the service last August. Individually,
Derivion's billers are tracking enrollment averages as high as 12
percent.
In a recent forecast, Jupiter Research estimates 40 million North
American households will be paying bills online by 2005. Within
the same period, analysts estimate that the volume of consumer payments
online will reach $31 billion. Additionally, Gartner says consumers
would be more willing to adopt e-billing if billers promote the
service and provide incentives for enrollment.
"E-billing as a relationship technology, is the cornerstone
for meaningful customer interaction, revenue growth, and loyalty,"
said David Fiacco, president and COO of Derivion. "Our focus
continues to be on enabling the critical mass of billers with superior
e-billing technology. However, we also place a premium on helping
our customers reap the most from their e-billing solution. Assisting
our billers with proven adoption programs that help to push enrollment
rates clearly delivers significant incremental value to our customer
partnerships."
Under the comprehensive e-billing application, Derivion introduced
Activation Marketing as part of the DigitalCareSM initiative that
leverages both traditional and Internet-based customer relationship
management (CRM) solutions and empowers billers with tools to strengthen
and enhance customer interactions. Designed to leverage the biller's
existing resources, Derivion teams with biller clients to design
and implement adoption programs that promote and encourage customer
enrollment in Internet bill view and pay.

services currently supporting 83 billers to annually digitize more
