SCT Releases Synchronization Solutions
for Utilities; Offers Commercially Available Microsoft-Based Customer
Information System
MALVERN, PA., January 17, 2001 /PRNewswire/ - SCT (Nasdaq:
SCTC), a leading global provider of e-business solutions,
today announced the release of its Synchronization Solutions (Synchro)
for utilities, a Web-enabled customer information system designed
and built to take full advantage of Microsoft technology.
Already licensed by three utilities in the United States and Canada,
SCT Synchro is a complete customer management system designed for
utilities that are committed to the Microsoft platform. The system
is built specifically for Microsoft's architecture and fully integrates
with back office products. User interfaces are provided through
Internet Explorer.
Designed for day-to-day operations of utilities, SCT Synchro allows
utilities to adapt quickly to industry changes, including pricing,
shifting regulatory climates, and a growing demand for excellent
customer service. The system is unique among the generally static
products currently available. For example, it handles multi-service
and multi-company requirements by simplifying specialized accounting
needs and putting additional functionality in the hands of management
as e-business continues to transform the utilities market.
"SCT Synchro is an ideal platform for small and medium-sized
utilities that want an affordable Web- and component-architected
solution set based on Microsoft technology," said John Gregg,
president of SCT global energy, utilities and communications solutions.
SCT's Banner suite of products has already established the company
as the leading provider of e-business solutions in the energy field.
By offering SCT Synchro to its Microsoft-based clients, SCT now
provides small- to medium- sized utilities, as well as energy service
companies, the tools to compete in an increasingly deregulated business
environment.
Current licensees include South River Electric Membership Cooperative,
Dunn, NC; the Halifax (Nova Scotia) Electric Membership Corporation;
and Anderson (IN) City Utilities.
"We selected SCT Synchro to position ourselves strategically
for e-business and deregulation," said David Blackmon, controller
for South River Electric Membership Cooperative. "SCT's innovative
approach to relationship leverage architecture allows us to achieve
business breakthroughs in a broad range of customer management service
areas. They include credit and collection management, billing, rate
processing, service order management, meter management, point of
service repository, deposit management, and cash management."
"Changes are coming rapidly in the utilities industry,"
Gregg added. "Current IT systems simply do not support the
capabilities that many utilities now need to survive and compete
successfully in a deregulated marketplace. We offer our clients
the best in web-enabled relational technology. With SCT Synchro,
our clients now have additional options that include affordable,
low- risk implementation, which yields a greater return on investment."
SCT's customer relationship management solutions currently support
more than 160 energy, utility, and communications clients around
the world.
