Excelergy Corporation Completes
2000 with Best Quarter in Its History; Energy Software Firm Signs
Ten New Clients in North America and Europe in December
LEXINGTON, MA., January 16, 2001 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Excelergy
Corporation, the pre-eminent provider of software technology and
products for restructuring global energy markets, today reported
its most successful quarter in its three-year history. In the fourth
quarter of 2000, Excelergy closed nine North American agreements
and launched a new European office that, within its first 90 days,
secured Excelergy's first major client in continental Europe. These
agreements wrapped up a year which saw revenues more than double
over those of 1999. Excelergy also outgrew its Cambridge headquarters
and moved into a significantly larger office in Lexington, in the
heart of Massachusetts' expanding high tech corridor."Looking

- Niagara Mohawk becomes first Northeast utility, and BP Amoco
becomes largest nationwide energy service company, to implement
Excelergy's EnergyMarketplaceTM web portal for energy purchasing
- Siebel Systems chooses Excelergy as its Premier Software Partner
to Deliver the billing component of its Siebel Energy solution
- Venture capital firm Sigma Partners leads a round of $23 million
of new equity investment in Excelergy and Robert E. Davoli, Sigma's
managing director, joins Excelergy's board of directors; Excelergy's
equity investors have provided a total of $48 million to date
Q2 2000:
- PricewaterhouseCoopers signs alliance with Excelergy to bring
the company's products to the Australia/New Zealand market, giving
the company its initial market presence in the Southern hemisphere
- Alliance Data Systems, a leading national application service
provider (ASP), picks Excelergy ABP 3000 for its energy application
services
- Top electronic billing firms edocs and Derivion sign partnerships
with Excelergy to combine and jointly market their complementary
customer billing and information systems
- World Energy Exchange selects Excelergy's EnergyMarketplace
to provide custom web-based energy portals
Q3 2000:
- USPowerSolutions chooses ABP 3000 and EC Power selects eXACT
as the products behind their energy application solutions
- Ontario's largest electric utility Hydro One implements eXACT
in preparation for Canadian electric deregulation
- Application service provider Retx.com licenses Excelergy ABP
3000 and eXACT to perform its business-to-business data transaction
processing, customer enrollments and customer data aggregation
- Avista Advantage selects the EnergyMarketplace web portal for
its customers
- Cap Gemini Ernst & Young forms alliance with Excelergy to
provide deregulating energy suppliers worldwide with Excelergy's
suite of web-based software products
- Former NewEnergy president Michael R. Peevey joins Excelergy's
board of directors
- Excelergy opens European headquarters in Bristol, England
Q4 2000:
- TorontoHydro & Ontario Power Generation launch North America's
first Internet-based retail energy transaction hub - EBT Express,
powered by Excelergy's eXACT product - to provide centralized
electronic data management and transaction services to utilities
and suppliers in Ontario's deregulating electricity market
- Chevron, National Grid, and Public Service of New Hampshire
each select EnergyMarketplace to establish their web portals for
energy procurement
- A major European utility selects ABP 3000 as its billing platform
to Support its soon-to-be-announced marketing launch into the
deregulated market for "green" energy
- Excelergy publishes retail energy industry's first XML standards
and becomes sponsor of the Organization for the Advancement of
Structured Information Standards (OASIS) to promote the industry-wide
acceptance of XML standards for open electronic data exchange
among energy companies
- Company co-founder and chairman Cary Bullock appoints Systems
& Computer Technology Energy and Communications president
Bill Mahoney as the company's new president and chief executive
