Lumbee River EMC Selects iMedeon
For Wireless Web Field Service Management
Lumbee River to deploy iMedeon's
iM:Work Application Suite to Increase Customer Service, Lower Costs
and Create Competitive Advantage
ALPHARETTA, GA., December. 5, 2000 -(BUSINESS WIRE) - iMedeon,
Inc., the premier provider of wireless Web applications for mobile
workforce management, was selected by Lumbee River Electric Membership
Co-operative (EMC) for its iM:Work software suite, enabling integration
of Lumbee River's mobile field service information from throughout
the enterprise.
In order to grow and strive for better service levels, Lumbee River
EMC will implement iMedeon's Web-based mobile workforce management
software to optimize field service tasks, increase customer satisfaction,
and create competitive advantage.
"Lumbee River's growth and continuous improvement initiatives
led us to select iMedeon to decrease service visit costs, leverage
our existing investments, increase productivity, and further improve
our high levels of customer service," says David Altman, vice
president of Engineering and Operations for Lumbee River EMC and
vice president of Sandhills Utility Service. "iMedeon's Web-based
dispatch, workforce optimization, operational analysis, and wireless
communications will undoubtedly help us reach our goals."
Joe Mediate, iMedeon's President and CEO, added, "iMedeon's
solutions appeal to organizations, such as Lumbee River EMC, that
view their customer's satisfaction as their highest priority. Extending
customer service to the field through iM:Work raises customer satisfaction,
which differentiates iMedeon's customers from their competitors."
According to Todd Ellis, Operations Manager for the Telecommunications
Division of Booth & Associates, consultants to Lumbee River
EMC, "In our recent survey of hundreds of electric co-ops across
the US, Lumbee River EMC is the first to implement a complete workforce
management system, as well as the first rural utility to use a 220
MHz program offered by Cooperative Wireless. This 220 MHz network
will appeal to many rural utilities looking for mobile data applications,
especially now for workforce management." 220 MHz networks
allow quick, complete, and cost-effective wireless coverage that
will enable iMedeon to deploy its Web-based, wireless solutions
in regions that lack ubiquitous wireless coverage.
The iM:Work software suite will improve communications, raise customer
service levels, and optimize mobile work force activities. iMedeon's
100% Web-based software suite increases the effectiveness of field
service organizations through faster response and better task completion
rates, which result in improved customer satisfaction. Connecting
Lumbee River's NISC™ Customer Information System (CIS), UAI™
Outage Management System (OMS), and ESRI™ Geographic Information
System (GIS), iM:Work will consolidate work orders and streamline
business and decision-making processes. It optimizes and electronically
connects field crews with best skills, equipment, spare parts, and
proximity to the work location. Since iMedeon's software suite is
based upon XML technology, the solution can easily adapt to new
initiatives in computing and the Internet, allowing for rapid iM:Work
implementation and upgrades.
Lumbee River EMC is a quickly growing utility in North Carolina
that is currently planning for a fifty percent (50%) increase in
subscribers through Sandhills Utility Services, which will provide
all electricity needs to Fort Bragg, the largest military base in
the USA, on 160,688 acres and 27,179,459 square feet of building
space.
