LEXINGTON, MA., November 9, 2000 - Excelergy Corporation, a leading provider of infrastructure software technology for restructuring global energy markets, announced today it has appointed Stephen Gregorio as vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer.

A 17-year management professional, Mr. Gregorio, 40, comes to Excelergy from Vality Technology Inc., where he had served since 1997 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. At Vality, Mr. Gregorio was responsible for worldwide financial, administrative and legal operations for the data management software company. Vality's revenues doubled during his tenure.

Mr. Gregorio also served nine years as vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer at Cambridge, MA-based Gensym Corporation, a publicly traded industrial automation software company specializing in the manufacturing, aerospace and telecommunications industries. During Mr. Gregorio's tenure, Gensym's annual revenues
increased from $500,000 in 1988 tonearly $40 million in 1996. Mr. Gregorio was instrumental in leading Gensym through its successful initial public offering.

Mr. Gregorio spent six years with the worldwide accounting firm of Arthur Andersen LLP. Mr. Gregorio holds a BS degree in accounting from Bentley College and has been a certified public accountant since 1985. He resides in Burlington, Massachusetts.
