Soliance Announces Completion of World-Class
SAP/Siebel Implementation At Sempra Atlantic Gas
SAN DIEGO, CA., October 18, 2000 -(BUSINESS WIRE)- Soliance,
the San Diego-based total information solutions provider, today
announced the completion of a record-breaking implementation of
SAP's R/3 client/server architecture enterprise resource planning
(ERP) and customer care system (CCS) software integrated with Siebel
Systems' eBusiness application customer relationship management
(CRM) software for the new Nova Scotia natural gas distribution
infrastructure.
Sempra Atlantic Gas has the exclusive rights to build and operate
the largest new North American natural gas distribution system constructed
in the past 30 years. It delivers natural gas for energy service
providers (ESPs) who then market it to Customers throughout the
province of Nova Scotia. Soliance has worked with Sempra Atlantic
Gas totailor information services for the various customer accounts
established by the ESPs, as well as the IT infrastructure needed
tooperate the new utility.
"This project provided a unique opportunity to implement a
world-class integrated back/front-office system utilizing industry
best-in-class processes and leading-edge software components from
SAP and Siebel Systems, without the usual problem of data conversion
and cultural change management," said Dale Kelly-Cochrane,
president of Soliance.
"We understand the complexities of creating accurate customer
information systems that can capture all the particular features
of each ESP," said Hal Snyder, president of Sempra Atlantic
Gas. "Soliance has proven it can deliver,on-time CIS/Billing
and ERP systems that work," he added.
This is one of the first utility implementations of SAP's CCS and
it was done in record time with integration of Siebel's CRM system.
"Adopting the system at Sempra Atlantic Gas created an opportunity
for the transfer of technology to the company in Halifax,"
said Snyder. "The technology transfer created a training opportunity
for the Sempra Atlantic Gas staff. In fact, a half-dozen staffers
received extensive training in the U.S. on the new system and are
now the company's super-users. Their knowledge is being shared with
other Sempra Atlantic Gas staff as internal training takes place."
Under contract toSempra Energy Information Solutions, Soliance
designed and implemented a flexible system architecture using industry
standard technologies, such as Java components over SAP's proprietary
tools. This provides Soliance with the ability to provide a "utility
in a box" for other utility clients.
This year Soliance set up a "virtual utility" for commodity
marketer Energy America's New Jersey and Georgia operations. Consequently,
Energy America maintains the only accurate billing system in the
newly deregulated state. Soliance was also recently selected by
the City Public Service of San Antonio, Texas, to implement the
first phase of an SAP-based ERP information system for the municipally
owned gas and electric utility that serves the city.
"ESPs, utilities and municipalities now are facing a new set
of CIS and billing demands as deregulation spreads throughout the
nation," said Kelly-Cochrane. "We provide each customer
with a team of professionals who are experienced in the energy industry
and get a tailored solution right the first time."
