FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Omaha
Public Power Goes Live with SPL WorldGroup's CIS PLUS
SAN FRANCISCO, CA., September 29, 2000 - SPL WorldGroup B.V.
(SPL), the leader in Customer Care & Billing solutions to the
global energy market, announced today that the Omaha Public Power
District (OPPD) has successfully implemented SPL's CIS PLUS® solution
to replace its legacy customer information system. This implementation
will give OPPD a significantly more flexible system that will upgrade
its customer support services and arm it for future growth. CIS
PLUS is considered the premiere customer management system for the
utility industry worldwide.
"OPPD was a model implementation of SPL's CIS PLUS solution.
The system went into production with no disruption to the OPPD customer
care operation and they are already seeing the benefits of the system's
flexibility," said CD Hobbs, President and Chief Executive
Officer for SPL WorldGroup. "The primary impetus for the replacement
of OPPD's legacy system was the need for more customer management
flexibility to effectively meet the challenges of an evolving industry.
We are proud that the SPL solution will meet OPPD's needs for the
future."
OPPD is an electric energy company located in Omaha, Nebraska,
serving 280,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
The company also plans to begin providing service bureau services
using SPL's system. OPPD implemented SPL's CIS PLUS system in approximately
18 months.
According to Larry Ciecior, OPPD's Division Manager Customer Information
Services, "As we prepare for restructuring of the electric
utility industry, our legacy system presented us with significant
challenges. With nominal configurations, the CIS PLUS solution addresses
those challenges. The CIS PLUS product offers us a base product
solution as well as enabling us to add-on components as the utility
market and our customers dictate." Mr. Ciecior also says that,
"The project was jointly managed, and both OPPD and SPL's teams
worked cooperatively for an amazingly smooth implementation."
