MALVERN, PA., July 27, 2000 —SCT (Nasdaq: SCTC), the leading
provider of industry-immersed e-solutions for the energy, utilities
and communications industries, announced today the appointment
of Jeff Davis as managing director, communications solutions for
SCT. Davis brings to his new position over 20 years of executive
experience in the electric and gas industries, including creating
and managing companies' non-regulated communications subsidiaries.
SCT's consulting practice was created to address the critical
shortage of high-quality, cost-effective consulting expertise
available to help energy and utility companies as they confront
the challenges of mega-trends, such as industry consolidation
and convergence, e-business, deregulation and industry restructuring.
In his new post, Davis will provide strategic consulting to telephony,
telecommunications, cable and Internet companies, as well as energy
companies ? all converging industries in the rapidly evolving
landscape of the new communications markets.
In his previous position as general manager for communications
at Vectren Advanced Communications ? formed by the merger of Southern
Indiana Gas and Electric and Indiana Energy, as well as several
additional acquisitions ? Davis served on the merger team. Later,
he led the development and expansion of its telecommunications
subsidiaries, which provide cable television, local and long distance
communications, data and Internet access services.
"As part of the communication consulting practice for SCT,
my primary challenges will be to help these enterprises rapidly
build necessary infrastructures, as well as build their customer
base quickly," said Davis. "I'll help companies identify
their needs, create a road map toward meeting those needs, and
offer guidance on the specific tools they require to follow the
map effectively and achieve their goals."
"Jeff's background in both utilities and communications
is especially well suited to his present position, because many
of our utility clients have non-regulated communications subsidiaries,"
noted Bill Mahoney, president of SCT's energy, utilities and communications
solutions business. "These clients, in particular, have approached
us for direction on developing the complex customer aggregation,
fulfillment and billing expertise necessary for success today.
Jeff Davis and our team of experienced professionals will leverage
their industry-specific experience and our current market position
as a provider of e-savvy, relationship leverage solutions, which
directly support strategic market and business goals."
With major clients such as MediaOne and the Weather Channel,
SCT brings a proven track record of success providing leading-edge,
technology and services solutions to the telephony, telecommunications,
cable and Internet marketplaces.
Mahoney added, "Davis's results-driven management style
will help clients successfully devise and implement cost effective
aggregation and fulfillment solutions, thereby achieving breakthrough
business results in key communications segments."
