FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPL WorldGroup to focus Exclusively on Energy and Utility Solutions Appoints CD Hobbs as President and Chief Executive Officer

SAN FRANCISCO, CA., July 20, 2000 - SPL WorldGroup, Inc. (SPL), the leader in Customer Care & Billing solutions to the global energy market, today announced that it has completed the spin-off of its non-energy related IT divisions into independent entities. This move is aimed at further enabling SPL to focus exclusively on providing Customer Care & Billing solutions to the rapidly changing global energy and utilities market. It is estimated that utilities worldwide will spend more than $10 billion a year on Customer Information Systems (CIS) systems by 2003 to address the growing complexity of their customer care and billing requirements.

"We reached the conclusion that to effectively manage the growth we are experiencing as the leading provider of CIS and related solutions to the global energy and utilities market, we need to focus exclusively on this business," explains Moshe Mor, Chairman of SPL WorldGroup. "When our current and future customers are betting their business on our CIS solution, we believe they would like to know that SPL is betting its business on their success"

In 1995, SPL launched the industry',s first fully functional and highly scaleable packaged customer information system (CIS) for the utilities market, CIS PLUS.  Addressing the growing demand for world class CIS packages generated by deregulation and privatization of utilities around the world, the company has emerged as a global leader in that market. By June 2000, SPL had more than 50 customers in North America, Europe and Australia. Its Customer Care & Billing product suite is successfully meeting the needs of utilities of all sizes, from small municipal utilities to some of the largest utilities in the world.

In a move intended to further its market leadership, SPL announced the appointment of CD Hobbs as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company.  CD will succeed Moshe Mor who has led the Company through its rapid growth in the last five years and who will continue to serve as SPL',s chairman.

"CD is recognized throughout the industry as a thought leader," commented a delighted Moshe Mor, &He brings to SPL a background rich in industry operational experience as well as strategic consulting. We are confident his expertise and leadership will direct SPL WorldGroup into the forefront of the Customer Care & Billing solutions market."

Formerly, as Senior Vice President at META Group, CD developed and led the Energy Information Strategies group from inception to its current position of premier IT advisory group to the energy industry. In 1999, he assumed responsibility for all of META's vertical industry practices and its Executive Services.

Between 1977 and 1991, CD held several executive positions with Portland General Electric (PGE), including Senior Vice President, Business Development, and Chief Financial Officer. CD played a key role in formulating and executing PGE strategy for transition in the rapidly changing industry.

In explaining what attracted him to SPL, CD said, "I have become aware of SPL's outstanding reputation through my consulting work in the industry. I am convinced that the Company, and its CIS PLUS suite of products, are in the best position to address the complex needs of energy and utility companies and I am excited to become part of that vision."
