DST Innovis Expands Relationship
with BG International
CUSTIMA™ to be implemented
in India and Egypt
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA., July 10, 2000 — DST Innovis,announced
today that it has signed contracts to provide the CUSTIMA™ Customer
Information System (CIS) totwo joint ventures of British Gas International
(BG International) - Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) in India and Nile
Valley Company in Egypt. The contracts expand DST Innovis' relationship
with BG International, which began with a strategic alliance in
1996 and the implementation of CUSTIMA at Phoenix Natural Gas in
Belfast, a joint venture of BG International and KeySpan Energy.
MGL and Nile Valley are developing green fuel offerings in new
markets and experiencing rapidly growing customer bases. CUSTIMA
will provide full customer management solutions as the companies
grow and begin offering varied services.

CUSTIMA is a highly functional and open system, scalable toeight
million customers, implemented at 55 sites on four continents, in
fifteen countries and is currently used toissue more than 25 million
bills each year. The CUSTIMA suite includes an extensive customer
relationship management (CRM) offering, electronic billing, end-user
Internet tools and a full financials system.
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) is a 50:50 joint venture owned by Gas
Authority of India and BG International. MGL was established toconstruct
the gas distribution system in Mumbai, (formerly Bombay), India's
commercial capital. The project involves laying 113 kms of steel
pipeline and 2 700 kms of polyethylene pipe toconnect commercial,
industrial and domestic customers. By May 1999, MGL had connected
240 commercial, 17 industrial and 23,000 domestic customers.
Approximately 13,000 taxis, representing more than 25 percent of
the city's petrol taxi population, have been converted torun on
compressed natural gas (CNG) supplied by MGL. These are serviced
through 13 dispensing stations throughout the city. Under a pilot
project, MGL currently supplies CNG to10 buses of the public transport
company. The trials could lead to the addition of 700 CNG buses
to the city's transport fleet during the next five years.
About the Nile Valley Gas Company:
BG International and its partners have signed a franchise agreement
with EGPC for the exclusive right to develop the gas market in Upper
Egypt, involving a major extension to the Egyptian gas transmission
and distribution system. BG International and its partners have
formed a new company, the Nile Valley Gas Company, in which BG International
will be the lead participant, toundertake the development of the
gas market and infrastructure.
The 25-year franchise agreement provides for the project to be undertaken
in a series of phases. The first phase has extended the gas transmission
network from south of Kuriamat to beni Suef, with first gas deliveries
achieved in March 1999. This will provide gas toindustrial consumers
and more than 20,000 domestic customers. The second phase will extend
the transmission network through construction of a 370-km pipeline
toAsyut. Two further phases, 260 kms from Asyut toQena, and 270
kms from Qena toAswan, may be developed, subject toagreement with
EGPC.
