LEXINGTON, MA., June 29, 2000 - Excelergy Corporation, a provider of business-to-business technology to the retail energy market, and Silicon Energy Inc., the global leader in enterprise energy management software, today announced a strategic alliance tointegrate and jointly market Excelergy's Energymarketplace rapidly-deployable Internet energy portal and Silicon Energy's web-based Enterprise Energy Management (EEM) system.

By bringing together the functionality of Excelergy's Energymarketplace and Silicon Energy's EEM system, corporate, industrial and residential energy customers will have a streamlined way to manage and procure energy. Energy customers will now be able toreview their comprehensive energy usage data (or have it reviewed for them), forward their usage data via eXtensible Markup Language (XML) to energymarketplace's exchange, e-ChoiceNet, and evaluate energy package offerings from providers based on that usage data -
all on the Internet.

Energymarketplace enables energy companies to build a customized energy portal that can be fully personalized by their business, municipal and residential customers. e-ChoiceNet, an Internet-based exchange toshop for and procure energy, is a Web service offered on Energymarketplace. Silicon Energy's Enterprise Energy Management system provides customers with historical and real-time energy usage data collection, storage, analysis and reporting. Additionally, Energymarketplace users will have access toSilicon Energy's enterprise energy management tools as a Web service on the portal.

As part of the alliance, Excelergy and Silicon Energy will collaborate tocreate XML standards todefine the communication protocol between the two parties. The standards will be made part of public domain as a function of XML-Pipe.org.*
