Sempra Energy Trading Selects
Excelergy's New Energy Internet Portal
Energy Companies Can
Now Build Custom, Full-Service Portals with Energy marketplace
LEXINGTON, MA. and DALLAS, TX., June 20, 2000 - Excelergy
Corporation, a provider of business-to-business technology for the
retail energy industry, today announced its new, rapidly deployable
Internet energy portal that is dedicated to meeting the changing
needs of utilities and energy companies.
Energy marketplace enables energy companies to build a customized
energy portal that can be fully personalized by their business,
municipal and residential customers. The new energy portal allows
energy companies to Offer a wide variety of energy-related information
and services over the Internet to end-use customers, similar to
the personalizable portal applications popular in the mass consumer
market.
Sempra Energy Trading, a subsidiary of Fortune 500 energy services
company Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) and one of the nation's leading
wholesale energy trading and marketing companies, will use Energy
marketplace to launch a custom energy portal service for its customers.
"The portal provides an innovative combination of third-party
web applications with our own internal data applications for our
customers," said David Messer, president of Sempra Energy Trading.
"We chose this solution because these unique, value-added services
will allow us to attract and serve customers with a convenient and
efficient means of communication."
While still allowing end-use customers to choose a different energy
supplier, Energymarketplace also enables energy companies to Offer
their customers a wide variety of products and services - such as
energy news, weather, energy pricing, asset management, presentation
of energy usage data, and account review - from a menu of choices.
to further expand the range of offerings available through its
Energymarketplace portal, Excelergy has formed alliances with leading
Internet-based energy software companies such as Silicon Energy,
to provide Silicon Energy's web-based Enterprise Energy Management
System (EEM), and EnergyGuide.com, to provide residential commodity
shopping, energy audits and ENERGYgear, which allows visitors to
purchase energy-efficient products online.
Energymarketplace can be designed to capture a company's corporate
look and feel for seamless integration. Energy companies' end users
then can further personalize the site by creating their own "MyEnergy"
page. This functionality allows users to rearrange the web site's
presentation and layout according to their personal preferences.
In essence, Energymarketplace gives energy companies the ability
to create their own web page.
"Energymarketplace meets the changing needs of the unfolding
deregulated energy industry," said Philippe Frangules, vice
president of e-commerce for Excelergy. "This highly personalized,
value-added approach to Internet business is a powerful tool for
market participants to proactively serve their customers."
