ConneXt Goes Live with ConsumerLinX™
Inaugural rollout of billing, CIS system unqualified, complete success

SEATTLE, WA., April 10, 2000 - ConneXt, a Seattle-based developer of billing and customer care solutions for regulated and unregulated energy providers, today announced the successful installation of its flagship product, ConsumerLinX at Puget Sound Energy (NSYE:PSD), handling customer information and billing for the utility's 910,000 electric customers.

The switchover occurred on April 10, culminating an 11-month installation and data-conversion process - less than half the industry average for similar customer information system (CIS) implementations.

"There are very few times in our industry when we get to claim unqualified, complete success with such a complex process. This is one of those occasions," said Bob Dryden, ConneXt president and CEO. "ConneXt has been working very hard for the past four years to develop a utility billing and customer care system that sets a new standard. PSE is proof positive that we've done our job well."

According to Gary Swofford, vice president and chief operating officer of PSE, the installation of ConsumerLinX had a positive impact on Washington's largest utility from the start. "As unbelievable as it may seem, our call response center representatives were achieving performance levels higher than our old system just one day after we went live," Swofford said.

"We developed ConsumerLinX to Give utilities the immediate ability to adapt to consumer needs while providing for changes in the industry," Dryden said. "As the marketplace continues to evolve - including changes brought about by deregulation - ConsumerLinX gives utilities the power to embrace these new opportunities through one seamless CIS system."

By the end of the year, PSE customers will have the ability to schedule payments and access their accounts via Internet, e-mail, fax or telephone.

PricewaterhouseCoopers managed the integration of the CIS.

PSE plans to convert the company's 575,000 natural gas accounts to the new system later this year.
