to provide E-Billing to Cable, Telecom and Internet Customers
Pennsylvania-Based Cable, Telecom
and Internet Provider to Offer e-Billing Service via Derivion's inetBillerSM
ATLANTA, GA., March 22, 2000 - Derivion, the first e-billing
application service provider (ASP), and Service Electric, a leading
provider of cable, telecommunications and Internet services and
founder of the first cable television system, announced today that
Service Electric has selected Derivion to implement an Internet
bill presentment and payment solution for its more than 160,000
customers. The agreement is a direct result of Service Electric's
commitment to provide value-added services to their customers, and
Derivion's joint initiative with First Union, the nation's sixth
largest bank holding company and second largest e-commerce initiator.
Derivion and First Union worked closely during the sales process,
and the result is an e-billing solution that is tailored to service
Electric's needs. The agreement enables Service Electric to Offer
the highest level of customer service while maintaining its current
banking relationship with First Union for payment processing and
ensuring a smooth transition from paper-based invoices to electronic
billing.
"Providing our customers with e-billing is a logical next
step for Service Electric. As a cable, telecom and Internet service
provider, we are excited to be one of the first in our industry
to provide an e-billing service. Transitioning our customer communications
to the Web is an important opportunity for Service Electric to differentiate
our company and a way for us to provide our customers with top-notch
service," comments Jack Capparell, General Manager of Service
Electric. "This is one of our most important initiatives for
2000, and we are looking forward to implementing this service as
soon as possible."
Many of Service Electric's customers already use the company's
direct debit payment option to pay their bill each month. Although
this service automates the payment process, the company must still
send customers an account status each month, in the form of a paper
bill. The time, printing and postage costs associated with this
process will be eliminated with the company's transition toe-billing.
Implementing Derivion's inetBillerSM e-billing application will
enable the company to Reduce their overall billing costs and improve
overall customer satisfaction.
"We are pleased to have a highly respected company such as
Service Electric as our first client in the cable industry, "
said Greg Rable, CEO of Derivion. "This agreement sets a precedent
that will accelerate Derivion's penetration of an important market,
allowing us to enable significant numbers of recurring billers in
the coming months."
"There is a great need for e-billing in the cable industry,"
continues Capparell. "Our customers have been asking for Internet
billing for quite some time, and we are proud to be among the first
to provide this valuable service. Derivion's turnkey solution is
exactly what we need to differentiate our business with superior
customer service."
inetBiller will operate as a transparent extension of Service Electric's
Web site, providing electronic invoicing and accepting payments
at a single location on the Internet . With an e-billing solution
that can be deployed in as little as 30 days from contract signing
to first bill, Derivion will handle all steps necessary for a seamless
implementation, including the design and presentation of online
bills, set up of payment processing options, promotion of the service,
and launch of the customer enrollment process.
