"With more of our customers using the Internet to transact
business, it was important for us to revamp our Web site so they
could pay their electric bills, receive basic services and obtain
information about our company," said Earl T. Carey, vice president.
"This type of interactive self-service is designed to make
doing business with us more convenient for customers while reducing
our costs."
In addition to Customer information, FirstEnergy uses e-business
to help lower costs, reach new markets, and build new relationships
with customers, suppliers, partners and employees. Other examples
of the company's e-business activities include:

could save $10 million in 2000 and substantially more in subsequent
years

through the FirstEnergy Trading Services Group

- auctions to save time and money
