FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SCT Appoints Divisional Vice Presidents
New Leadership Enhances Strategic Development and Vision
MALVERN, PA., February 22, 2000 - SCT (Nasdaq: SCTC) today
announced the appointment of three new vice presidents for its global
energy, utility & communications solutions market unit: Steve
Koporec as vice president, sales; Lynn Derrick as vice president,
global marketing; and John Gregg as vice president, strategic business
development.
"We are extremely pleased with the industry experience and
proven record of success that each of these executives brings to
the SCT team," said Bill Mahoney, president of SCT energy,
utility and communications (EUC). "This team was specifically
created to build upon our vision and ability to both develop and
deliver innovative solutions to this deregulating market."
The three executives report to Mahoney.
As vice president, sales, Koporec is responsible for global sales
of software and services. Koporec joins SCT's utility market unit
after a successful tenure as central region sales general manager
for SCT's global education solutions market unit. In this role,
he captured highest sales recognition honors for over-achievement
of annual sales goals 3 times between 1996 and 1999. Steve's annual
goals were consistently in the tens of millions of license fee dollars,
and larger amounts of services dollars. Under his leadership, the
central region for SCT's education solutions market unit has steadily
grown to be a reliable provider of revenues and margins for SCT.
In addition to his experience at SCT, Koporec has held positions
in sales and sales support management at Texas Instruments, Dun
and Bradstreet Software, and JD Edwards.
Lynn Derrick has assumed the role of vice president, global marketing
for the utility market unit. Derrick joins SCT after nearly a decade
of executive responsibility for worldwide sales and marketing at
K2 Corporation, a $630M retail consumer goods product company. While
at K2, Derrick affected sales and marketing turnarounds in multiple
company divisions. Prior toK2, Derrick spent nearly 10 years with
IBM in a succession of sales and sales management roles. His regional
and vertical account responsibilities included utilities. Consistently
delivering millions of dollars in revenues from these accounts,
Derrick regularly achieved IBM sales quota over-performance recognition.
John Gregg returns to SCT, assuming the role of vice president,
strategic business development. In his new role at SCT, Gregg leads
two key business processes. He will create and help close strategic
sales cycles, including sales within merging/acquiring companies,
high-end account penetration, and first-of-a-kind engagements. Additionally,
Gregg will assist in formulating new strategies, solutions, and
programs that will support the company's strategic objectives. Gregg
will call upon nearly three decades of executive management experience
at SCANA, including positions as CIO, and the presidency of a non-regulated
technology business unit. Gregg formerly served as vice president,
marketing for SCT's utility market unit. During his tenure, Gregg
and his marketing team created programs and positioning that directly
drove the market unit record growth rate to more than 60% annually
from 1994-1999, and to Market leadership in the Customer Management
Systems/Utilities segment.
