SCT Energy, Utilities and Communications Achieves Record Number of Client Implementations in First Fiscal Quarter
SCT's Banner Customer Management System Delivers Breakthrough Business Results for Clients, Utilities and Energy Service Companies

MALVERN, PA, January 18, 2000 - SCT (Nasdaq: SCTC), a leading software and IT services solutions company, announced today that its energy, utilities, and communications market unit brought a record number of clients into implementation during its first fiscal quarter with the SCT Banner Customer Management System.

During the first quarter, 32 global utilities and energy service providers achieved operational status using SCT's Banner CMS, bringing the total number of live SCT Banner utility clients to107. This first quarter number of "go lives" is a new quarterly record, outpacing the previous record of 12. SCT's first quarter ended December 31, 1999. SCT brought a total of 34 energy clients live during fiscal year 1999.

"SCT continues to set the bar in the industry in keeping its clients moving forward with the Banner solution," said Patrick Hodges, senior industry analyst, Frost & Sullivan. "This demonstrates SCT's commitment to Support their clients and ensure they can be competitive in the deregulating marketplace."

"We're sustaining the record pace of successful, timely initial implementations and we're fulfilling the promise of our contractual TCP commitment through successful version upgrades," said Bill Mahoney, president of SCT's energy, utilities & communications market unit. "We bring our clients forward functionally and technically over the life of their system, generating a low cost, high return on investment."

Implementations included deregulating multi-service companies such as Integral Energy, a large energy service provider in Australia; Centra Gas Manitoba of Canada and Philadelphia Suburban Water. Progressive, competitive municipality implementations included the City of Charlotte, NC, City of Riverside, CA, Manatee County, FL, Albany, NY Water Gas & Light, City of Roseville, CA, City of Palo Alto, CA and Wichita Falls, TX. Leading generation company implementations included Edison Mission Energy, an Edison International company, who implemented 16 sites in the Chicago area with SCT's Banner Fuels Management System (FMS), and Sithe Energies, who implemented Banner FMS at five sites in Pennsylvania.

Additionally, 15 SCT clients successfully executed version upgrades during the first quarter, including Utilipro, a leading US industry application service provider, AllEnergy, a successful northeast US energy services provider, and Union Gas North, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westcoast Energy.

"With the great level of complexity associated with operating behind more than 40 utility jurisdictions in the northeastern US, our recent migration with SCT Banner provides us with a distinct competitive advantage," said Arthur Pearson, director of information services at AllEnergy, based in Waltham, MA. "Banner is our platform for processing complex data from various utilities and will allow us to do an even better job in providing the next level of quality to our customers. Throughout the various twists and turns that occur during the first couple weeks of a release upgrade, our SCT project team has been committed and responsive."
