FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Graham Nicoll Takes Helm at
Teldata
CHICAGO, IL, (BUSINESS WIRE) September 17, 1999
-Teldata, Inc. announces the appointment of Graham Nicoll to the
position of President and CEO. In concert with the company's January
acquisition by The National Grid Group plc, Mr. Nicoll, a former
Grid executive, brings an extensive background in load data management
and an aggressive agenda for the company's immediate and long term
future.
Most recently responsible for the inception and growth of the National
Grid's subsidiary Datum Solutions, Mr. Nicoll and Datum were among
the first providers of complete data management solutions to the
deregulated European marketplace.
"There are many parallels between deregulation in the US and
what has already occurred in the UK and Europe,'' Nicoll observes.
``Much of what we've learned at National Grid and Datum Solutions
we can now apply here in the US. Following considerable due diligence,
we've determined that Teldata is uniquely ahead of the game in the
realms of technology and product offerings. The challenge now before
us is to Support and expand these offerings; and we intend to do
so by applying the collective experiences and resources of the largest
independent energy provider in the world.''
Among the first initiatives for the company has been the development
of a new corporate identification program that more accurately reflects
the direction of the company. A new logo, signifying universal solutions,
is now accompanied by the theme statement: The difference between
metering and managing.
"Teldata has for a long time been recognized as a major metering
provider, and this was a fine image to have back when metering was
the focal point of the marketplace. But now that Teldata's technology
has evolved, it's time to Move beyond the meter. It's time we as
a company started to talk about the complete set of tools we offer
and our abilities in application engineering. We have the ability
to show our customers how to capture load data in all of its unlimited
configurations, enabling them to at last make informed decisions,
enabling them to act now to Reduce energy-related costs, compete
more effectively, and plan for the future.''
According to Mr. Nicoll, the company's expertise in the realms
of automatic meter reading (AMR), customer information systems (CIS),
and data management services (DMS), are strengths the marketplace
has yet to learn about.
"There is most certainly a difference between metering and
managing,'' Mr. Nicoll concludes. ``Our challenge is to connect
with the many decision makers who understand this profound difference;
because those are the same decision makers who will see in us the
kind of people and technology support they need.''
