The Utility Connection Signs
Enercom, Inc. as Corporate Sponsor
Utility-Related Web Site Attracts 20,000
Visitors Each Month
ORLANDO, FL., August 10,
1999 - The Utility Connection (TUC), a web site that links
utility professionals to over 3,000 utility-related sites, announced
that Enercom, Inc. has signed a contract to be the site's corporate
sponsor. Created in 1995 by Michael L. Metzler, TUC has become the
most popular utility-related link site on the Web.
The Utility Connection provides a comprehensive listing of links
that attracts over 20,000 visitors a month. The site includes links
to Electric, gas and water utilities. Also included are links to
financial-related resources, news organizations and services, as
well as industry and regulatory associations. In addition, the site
has links that connect users with the latest deregulation/customer
choice information.
"The site is my avocation," said Metzler, who is a regional
manager in Black & Veatch's Management Consulting Division.
"I started it as a resource for the industry, and the reaction
to it has been overwhelmingly positive."
That positive reaction and heavy traffic is exactly why Enercom
chose to make the move from long-time advertiser to corporate sponsor
for TUC. Enercom is the leading developer of Internet and PC-based
energy and water utility application software and customer Internet
gateways. "Since our business is focused on the Internet and
information technology, corporate sponsorship of TUC was a natural
fit," said Paul Conlan, Enercom's president and CEO. "We
have experienced first-hand the popularity of The Utility Connection.
It has helped generate world-wide interest in our Energy DepotT
gateway."
The Utility Connection is ranked as a Top Site by the Dow Jones
Business Directory, and was recently cited as a top pick in a member
survey conducted by the Association of Energy Services Professionals.
